This game has a moving story behind all of the fighting, a story of a torn friendship, a mysterious pokemon, and a hidden land. After the first mystery dungeon game, I knew that this would be better.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness (& Time)

By Damien McFerran (pocketgamer.co.uk)

Haven't we caught them all enough times already?

The same can't be said of card game turned video game and anime-money-spinner Pokémon. This is a fad that stubbornly refuses to fade respectfully into rose-tinted obscurity; despite the fact that it's now celebrating its 13th glorious year of...

Clearly, this evergreen franchise has considerable stamina and cross-generation appeal

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness & Time

By John Tucker (rpgfan.com)

Look up the 25 top-selling video games of all time, and you'll find every original installment of the main Pokémon series on the list. Even Yellow, Fire Red, and Leaf Green show up there, and they're essentially re-releases of older games. In fact,...

Triumph or train wreck, it's always interesting to see an established series take a detour and try something different. The Mystery Dungeon games are definitely a different direction for the Pokémon series, but they're more "fender bender" than they...

I've been a fan of the series since I maxed out the clock in the original Red at 256 hours, so I was cautiously optimistic about having fun with this offshoot, even though I haven't played any previous Mystery Dungeon games.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness

By Gerald Villoria (gamespy.com)

A saccharine-sweet take on the classic dungeon crawler.

Classic dungeon-crawling gameplay; attractive setting and cheerful music; not as cruel as NetHack

You may not be able to play as your favorite Pokemon; not as challenging as Nethack

I think I preferred it when Pokemon couldn't speak :)

I found it a bit boring compared to other pokemon games which is why I found it easy to put down and not pick up for ages even though I know I should
