Mario Kart 7 review

Nintendo's classic karting series hits seven, but can the plumber still cut it on the 3DS racetrack?

It’s not the very best Mario Kart game, but it’s not far off, and that makes it a cracker

Mario Kart 7

Mario and his mates are back on track in the fabulous Mario Kart 7 on Nintendo 3DS.

Compulsive kart-racing action ; A great mix of old and new tracks ; Good 3D graphics and strong online gameplay

Not innovative, but who cares ; A lot of recycled content, but who's bothered

There are eight cups in total, four featuring sixteen new circuits, or at least new variants on old themes, and four featuring another sixteen old classics extending all the way back from Mario Kart WII to the original Super Mario Kart on the 16-bit...

Mario Kart 7 review

Is Mario Kart an essential 3DS purchase, or can you safely ride on by?

Given that, I think it's fair to say that Mario Kart 7 fulfils the majority of its objectives and remains the best kart racer on the market today, even if it doesn't go quite as far as I would like in exploiting its new features. As Sega, Nicktoons,...

The 3DS is starting to live up to its potential, with a great selection of quality games being released over the last two months. Mario Kart 7 hopes to continue this trend but can the glider and underwater sections - two bold additions to a series so...

Mario Kart 7

Nintendo are nothing if not consistent. Their reliance on licenced characters and franchises to sell consoles for decades has, for some, formed a list of personnel and titles that should have bit the dust long ago. For others, picking up a Nintendo...

Mario Kart 7 Review

More of the same, but more.

Mario Kart 7" is certainly one of the best Mario Kart games, and easily the best looking. But it still remains hard to sum up, because while it maybe a high point in the franchise it still retains all of its flaws. The sense other AI racers are ganging...

Mario Kart 7

The Mario Kart series has always been about everyone's favorite Mushroom Kingdom characters racing through several exotic locations while being pelted by banana peels, giant spinning shells, lightning bolts, and all sorts of other abuse. Mario Kart 7...

Review: Mario Kart 7 for 3DS

Mario Kart 7 is at its best when played online, though the single player mode has its moments.

Standard and gyroscope controls, multiple powerups, 32 tracks, with 16 new and 16 returning tracks, 16 playable characters, can use Miis in races, can customize karts, there are coin collection and time trail modes and there’s a robust online...

The computer “cheats” and is especially cheap in the 100cc and 150cc races. You can’t choose the order in which kart parts and characters unlock. Certain major characters were omited and replaced with minor characters. 3D doesn’t really add or detract...
