Review: Sony NWZ-B153F

Though it has funky eye-grabbing looks, we wonder if Sony has introduced enough new features to liven up a player with a traditional form factor.

Interesting LED lighting; drag-and-drop file transfer; quick charge feature; good audio quality

Some features are redundant; USB cap has a loose fit; bundled earphones sound thin

Sony's offering scores for being practical and is a worthy consideration if you're looking for a simple player.

Sony Walkman NWZ-B153F

Audio quality is its strong point

Small form factor, built-in USB connection, easy UI navigation, voice recorder, good audio quality, good battery life, inexpensive

No built-in clip to attach to clothes, no AAC format support, bass mode reduces battery life significantly, slow data transfer speeds, not much different than last year's model, rotating dial complicates navigation, USB cap feels a bit loose

SONY NWZ-B153

Design ; The mp3 player feels nice to hold ; Its small shape and lightness make it good for things such as going to the gym or listening to music on the move ; The built in usb is handy for the computer as you don't have to worry about a cable ; Most...

Design ; Although the mp3 player feels nice in the hand there is quite a lot of plasticyness if you scrutinise it closely ; It is quite easy to lose the usb cap if you are not very careful ; The wheel for scrolling between tracks is a bit fiddly, and...

Promising but didn't work

Good points are that it seems chunky and tough. The controls are intuitive (they work the way you'd expect them to, not back to front) and the sound from the pre-loaded tracks was very good. BUT I couldn't load anything on to it because my PC told me...
