Apple Magic Trackpad 2 review: Feel the Force Touch

Force Touch is the new pressure-sensitive tech from Apple that promises to change the way we interact with our Macs by offering shallow and deep "layers" of interaction on the trackpad. A separate trackpad won't suit all users, but if it's how you like...

Bigger surface area, easy to setup, long battery life, comes with Lightning cable in the box for charging

If you aren't using Force Click the extra size isn't hugely noticeable over the previous model

A separate trackpad won't suit all users, but if it's how you like to work then the Magic Trackpad 2 adds plenty of new features above and beyond the original model.

Apple Magic Trackpad 2

The Magic Trackpad 2 is larger than its predecessor, and adds a rechargeable internal battery and Force Click, but it's nearly twice the price.

Attractive, minimalist design. Larger active surface area than the previous model. Quick setup. Supports Force Click and multitouch gestures. Internal rechargeable battery. Includes Lightning charging cable.

Expensive. Requires El Capitan and Bluetooth 4.0 to work.

Conclusion On basis of merit alone, the Apple Magic Trackpad 2 is a worthy successor to the first iteration. Force Click may get the headlines and certainly requires some explaining for those who haven't used it before, but the real upgrade here is the...

APPLE Magic Trackpad 2 - White

Very easy to use. Lots of options to suit how you want it to work. Much easier / relaxing to use than a mouse when reading lots of text. Great for viewing photos it's like having iPhone capabilities on the desktop. Good battery life.

Like most Mac stuff it is a bit on the pricey side.
