Viewsonic VX2880ml review

An attractive and affordable 4K monitor that's limited by its 30Hz refesh rate

Design ; Image quality ; Reasonably priced

Limited to 30Hz ; Poor speakers ; Fiddly setup

A 4K TV disguised as a PC monitor, the VX2880ml's 30Hz refresh rate limitation makes it unsuitable for gaming or doing professional work in 4K. If you're mainly planning on watching 4K video, however, it's an affordably-priced and smartly-designed, if...

Viewsonic VX2880ml 4K display review

As part of ViewSonic's VS range, the 'entertaiment' clause may be a useful get-out, since we found this display ill-equipped for use as a computer monitor. While it does use a 3840 x 2160-pixel panel, its refresh rate is limited to 30 Hz, where...

There may be some limited application for using this display as a 4K television, when combined with an external set-top box, in spaces where a regular 40-inch 4K television will not physically fit. But we would not describe this ViewSonic as fit for...

Viewsonic VX2880ml

The ViewSonic VX2880ml Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) monitor delivers a sharp picture with bold colors and inky blacks, but it suffers from narrow viewing angles and weak gray-scale performance and can't display UHD at 60Hz.

Accurate colors. Sharp UHD picture. Dark blacks.

Only supports 30Hz UHD frame rates. Narrow viewing angles. Weak gray-scale performance. No USB ports.

Conclusion With the ViewSonic VX2880ml you get sharp UHD imagery and vibrant colors, but there are better-performing UHD monitors out there for around the same price. The VX2880ml's viewing-angle performance is typical for TN panel and no worse the...

ViewSonic VX2880ml review: A good-value 28-inch 4K monitor

ViewSonic's VX2880ml is a well-specified 28-inch 4K display with good performance at a very reasonable price.

UltraHD (4K) resolution ; 10-bit colour ; DisplayPort daisychaining and MHL support ; Blue light filter, flicker-free backlight ; Affordable price

On-screen menu navigation requires patience

The VX2880ml is a well specified and reasonably priced 28-inch monitor that represents a worthy entry into the 4K market for ViewSonic. As it should be for a 4K monitor, the image quality at the native resolution is stunningly sharp and clear. There...

Review: ViewSonic 28” 4K Display VX2880ml

Most commonly we associate the terms 4K and UHD with TVs but these terms define resolutions that are finding their way into our desktop monitors. For the past few weeks, I've had ViewSonic's 28” 4K m...

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Easy to use, lives up to its specs

I paired this with Ubuntu Linux running on a Skylake i7 with GTX 970, and it's great. Ubuntu handles UI scaling very nicely. Xorg config still causes mild video tearing at high resolution, but it's not very noticeable. I have not bothered with any...

It's huge! It's high resolution! No dead pixels visible to the human eye!

It has 30 fps max framerate for native resolution. It's on the spec page, and It's is not a huge limitation in a game like EU4 or Stellaris, but it's a little worse than I expected when playing faster-paced games. I'm not taking any stars off for this,...

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Was $250

I'm not super serious into gaming, so 30 frames a second with v sync is something I am comfortable with. This monitor handles that at 4k just fine. I bought the 1 year warranty after reading reviews of this model failing within weeks to months. It...
