Dell UltraSharp U2913WM

 

The Dell UltraSharp U2913WM is s unique 29-inch ultra-widescreen monitor offering a 21:9 aspect ratio and solid IPS color and grayscale quality but it may not be the best choice for gamers.

Great color quality.Very good grayscale performance. Generous port selection.

Vertical viewing angle could be better. No speakers. Mediocre motion handling.

Dell UltraSharp U2913WM

 

Despite some technical flaws, the U2913WM is a good monitor with an excellent price. At AU$599, it's enough that people will be asking if they want a 27-inch with the extra 360 vertical pixels, or if 21:9 is in their future.

Games are incredibly immersive ; Quite affordable ; Great choice of inputs ; Attractive design ; Better than average HDMI performance

USB 3.0 ports on side sometimes acted at USB 2.0 speeds ; Dell's new menu buttons are less intuitive ; If a movie isn't natively 21:9, it can look rather bad ; Still drew power when switched off ; Some inversion tests turned purple

What's rather spectacular about the U2913WM, though, is the price — at AU$599, it's enough that people will be asking if they want a 27-inch with the extra 360 vertical pixels, or if 21:9 is in their future.

Review Roundup: Get a bigger picture with an ultrawide 29-inch display

 

Dell consistently produces great monitors, and the U2913WM is no exception, although we don't care for the Autocolor feature that "optimizes" the display for the currently active application.

Excellent off-axis viewing ; Very flexible stand ; Overall very good image quality

No audio speakers ; Autocolor feature has its quirks

All four of these displays performed well overall. For folks who want to use an extrawide screen to handle multimedia, the LG 29EA93P, with its decent built-in speakers, would be the best choice. The NEC EA294WMi delivers the most accurate colors and...

Excellent screen space for 3D modeling, CAD or just games. Had Dell UltraSharp screens before so already knew the quality i was going to be getting and was not let down. Huge array of connection types inc. usb hub.

A little back light bleed but nothing i wasn't expecting from this kind of IPS panel and TBO for what i use it for pretty much unnoticeable.
