Vodafone Smart II V860

An Android smartphone with a rock-bottom price.

Low price tag, Decent build quality, Some useful additional Vodafone widgets

Poor camera, Below par battery life, Slightly sluggish performance

Vodafone Smart 2 review

Vodafone follows up its original Smart with an updated Android handset

Small ; Well built ; Some nice widgets ; Responsive screen

Poor screen visibility outdoors ; Disappointing battery ; Limited video shooting

We weren't great fans of the original Vodafone Smart. The general specifications were just too poor to do Android justice. But undaunted, Vodafone has continued with the Smart line, and the new handset, the Vodafone Smart 2 (or Vodafone Smart II, if...

Vodafone Smart II

Vodacom rebrands an Alcatel V860 smartphone as a Vodafone Smart II. Is it worth its R1 300 asking price or should you spend your money on another budget device?

Sturdy construction; pocketable dimensions; higher resolution display than rivals; and handy Data Management app.

Not the best performing budget CPU; rather average camera performance; and screen prone to displaying glare; plus a real fingerprint magnet.

A Vodafone Smartphone : Vodafone Smart II

It was not so long ago that smartphones were classified as high-end devices with prices to match; now we are seeing budget offerings entering the market.

Generally when a handset arrives from Vodafone to be reviewed, it is a model from one of the major manufacturers of telephonic devices such as RIM, Samsung or HTC. However, in the case of the Smart II, this handset proudly bore the Vodafone name and...

Vodafone Smart 2 review

We review the Vodafone Smart 2 – a £70 Android Gingerbread-powered smartphone

Solid built, great value for money

Small screen, average processor, poor battery life

While the Smart 2 isn’t the most accomplished Android phone we’ve ever seen, the low price tag, sturdy construction and bloat-free operating system make it an attractive purchase for newcomers shopping on a budget

Vodafone Smart II Review

So, if we're looking at budget Android handsets we have to look at this - the Vodafone Smart II. It's going on sale for just £70 and is powered by Android 2.3. Inside it's actually an Alcatel device - the charger and battery gives it all away pretty...

Conclusion On the outside this phone ticks all the boxes. Alcatel have built a decent, solid and well designed phone which doesn’t look or scream “cheap” in any way. Apps and games ran well, but the low-res video quality, washed-out camera images and...

Vodafone Smart II review -

Sturdy build, £70 on pay-as-you-go, Vodafone app to monitor data usage

Terrible battery life, slightly cramped keyboard, mediocre camera

Vodafone Smart II Review

A budget Android handset that sadly can't measure up to rivals in the low-cost smartphone arena.

Solid build, low cost, Vodafone app monitors use of data

Awful battery life, rather squashed keyboard, disappointing camera

If you’re after a budget friendly smartphone with modern features, the Vodafone Smart II isn't it. There are lots of low-cost smartphones on the market now, and quite a few that cost less than £100. If you’re after a proper smartphone with a budget...

Vodafone Smart II

The Smart II is tiny, attractive and the top sub-$200 smartphone we've seen to date.
