Sony Ericsson Walkman W518A

The inexpensive Sony Ericsson W518a ($50 with a two-year contract from AT&T; price as of 8/18/09) combines style, sound, and socializing, making it an attractive cell phone for a teenager (or a teenage budget). But just like the coolest kids in school,...

Attractive design ; External music display and controls are convenient

Doesn't come with headphones ; Gesture controls are gimmicky

Other than the Facebook app, the music functions, and the gimmicky controls, the W518a is a fairly run-of-the-mill flip phone. The call quality was clear (nothing stunning), and it was reliable (I didn't have any dropped calls while I was testing it)....

Sony Ericsson Walkman W518a Phone Review

Attractive design ; External music display and controls are convenient

Doesn't come with headphones ; Gesture controls are gimmicky

The attractive Sony Ericsson W518a has some unique features, but lack of a standard headphone hinder its capabilities as a media player.

Sony Ericsson W518a Walkman review: Sony Ericsson W518a Walkman

Sony Ericsson W518a Walkman

The Sony Ericsson W518a has great music quality, a brilliant display, and a respectable feature set.

The Sony Ericsson W518a's call quality wasn't perfect, and its controls and keypad were difficult to use. Also, the phone is rather sluggish.

The Sony Ericsson W518a lives up to its Walkman name, but call quality and internal performance didn't quite measure up.

Great music player on a mid-tier flip phone

The name Walkman conjures up images of the iconic portable music player, and the Sony Ericsson W518a Walkman phone continues the tradition of delivering great-sounding tunes and plenty of functionality, according to reviewers. Many, however,...

Excellent music player, bright and clear internal screen, very good Netfront web browser

Flat navigation controls and keypad difficult to use, no flash on camera, proprietary headphone jack

Video Tour: Sony Ericsson W518a

Phone Scoop takes a look at the latest clamshell Walkman for AT&T, the W518a. While the inner display is beautiful and most features work well, all is not perfect.

Sony Ericsson W518a Review - Phone Reviews by Mobile Tech Review

The Sony Ericsson W518a is for Walkman phone fans who crave a flip form. Even though AT&T has largely stayed away from high-end Walkman phones like the W995a, they continue the love for mid-tier Walkman phones. The W518a has Sony Ericsson's signature...

Slim and sleek design, XMB UI is easy to use, good music player and video performance ;

Camera isn’t impressive. No wired headset or USB cable in the box

We finally get a flip Walkman phone from AT&T and it doesn’t disappoint as a music phone. The Walkman Player 3.0 has the latest music playback goodness: album art, accelerometer support, TrackID, gesture control and the SensMe playlist. It plays audio...

Not Sony Xperia Smart phone

Don't let presence of "Xperia Sony Smartphone" logo fool you. This is not a "smart" phone! The W518a was issued by AT&T in 2009 and 2010. I got a couple in 2010 when they were turning refurbs out cheap in Go Phone store. Probably the biggest knock is...

All the bands to make it a "world" phone ; 3G bands for AT&T and possibly T-mobile ; Sold unlocked ; Music player operable closed ; Can be de-branded ; Nice size and shape

Likely AT&T branded ; Uses M2 card, not micro SD ; S/E cable needed, may not be supplied ; Cheap cheap plastic ; Keyboard not the easiest to navigate blind ; As of 2013 it is rather dated

Sony Ericsson w518a

This is not the greatest phone I have ever had. The battery is already showing signs of losing it's basic level of power and I have barely had it for 6 weeks. Not good.
