Sony Ericsson W995 mobile phone

By Chris Hall (pocket-lint.com)

Your complete entertainment handset?

Great specs, build quality, BBC iPlayer and YouTube

A great quality of build and slick all round performance, this is a phone for someone who loves music and video on the move, but those 8-megapixels don't make it a camera phone

Sony Ericsson W995 - First Look review

By Stuart Miles (pocket-lint.com)

Sony has launched a new Walkman mobile phone at Mobile World Congress and Pocket-lint was on hand to give it a quick fumble. But is the phone all that it's cracked up to be and can it be the music phone for you? We grabbed a brief play to find out. ...

Wi-Fi, 8-megapixel camera, HSDPA, 3.5mm headphones jack

No touchscreen

It might not look to push any boundaries, but it does bring the Cyber-shot and Walkman handset together nicely

The Sony Ericsson W995 Walkman handset tries for the first time to bring the Walkman and Cyber-shot brands together. It's an age old problem for Sony, and while they no doubt want to retain the two brands, the Cyber-shot and the Walkman separate, the...

Sony Ericsson W995 Walkman review

By Flora Graham (cnet.co.uk)

Award: Editor's Choice!

Sony Ericsson is doing what it does best with the W995 Walkman. It's a good-looking and easy-to-use music phone with excellent sound quality, an above-average camera and a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Finally, we can rid our pockets of that pesky...

Standard headphone jack ; Sharp camera ; Good music quality ; Superior stereo speakers ; Improved Media Go software ; Wi-Fi connectivity ; FM radio

Jerky YouTube video ; Podcasts are hard to manage ; Slow camera

Conclusion With the Sony Ericsson W995 Walkman, we've finally found a phone that could replace our MP3 player. Great music quality, a standard headphone jack and straightforward music-transfer capability mean this phone has everything we need to keep...

A couple of the built-in apps aren't impressive, but that's a minor niggle on a phone that's easy to use, well-designed and looks great. The 8.1-megapixel camera is the icing on the cake and handy extras like the built-in stand and loud stereo speakers...

Sony Ericsson W995

Award: Recommended!

This versatile slider phone features a 2.6in screen and offers good usability.

Great camera ; Good connectivity, built-in iPlayer ; 3.5mm headphone jack

Not a full smartphone - proprietary OS ; Lacks dynamism

Yes, I've seen it all before - well except that welcome 3.5mm headphone jack, but I can't help liking the W995. It is not exactly a revolution, but with GPS, Wi-Fi, excellent music playback and control, and a decent camera, it's certainly a...

The screen is a little on the small size to take full advantage of the available video streaming services, but its quality is good. Just remains to be seen if the W995 is a good place for the 'W' branding to take its final bow.

Sony Ericsson W995a review

By Ginny Mies (pcadvisor.co.uk)

With its Walkman and Cybershot series of models, Sony Ericsson has become a leader in the niche categories of camera and music phones. The latest addition - the Sony Ericsson Walkman W995a - delivers the best of both worlds with an 8.1Mp camera and...

The Sony Ericsson Walkman W995a has multimedia features that surpass some of our top-ranked phones. Both the camera and the music player go above and beyond the capabilities of the current BlackBerry model, the HTC smartphones, and even the iPhone 3GS...

But the fact that the W995a isn't a smartphone keeps us from praising the Sony Ericsson W995a too much - it just doesn't have the browser, keyboard, and email connectivity that the others have. And at a £379 unlocked price point, it can't compete with...

The Sony Ericsson W995 could be the best Walkman phone yet released

Walkman music player ; 8.1 megapixel camera ; Decent quality headphones ; Supplied loudspeaker ; A-GPS ; Wi-Fi and HSDPA 3G

Camera disappointing ; Battery life could be better ; Weak video stand

On the left side there's Sony Ericsson's Fast Port power socket, a dedicated Walkman button and the Memory Stick Micro slot, though it's hidden under the back cover

Sony Ericsson W995 Review

By Editorial Team (recombu.com)

The W995 comes with a 3.5mm audio jack -- sound quality is great. Even the stereo speakers sound good.

The Sony Ericsson W995 is one of the best Walkman phones ever made. Our only disappointment was about the camera and streaming video content quality but other than that we highly recommend this phone. This is Sony Ericsson at its best.

Sony Ericsson Walkman W995

By Nikhil Pradhan (pcworld.in)

The Walkman W995 has a neat usable interface, great media playback capabilities and an 8.1MP camera that takes decent pictures.

Packed with Features ; Great Multimedia Phone ; Elegant Design ; Simple & Easy to Use Interface

Expensive ; Audio Playback Needs More Volume ; Awful Earphones

The Walkman W995 is a phone that does it all and does it all very well. It combines a simple interface, lots of features and excellent music playback.

Review: Sony Ericsson W995 Walkman

By Damian Koh (asia.cnet.com)

Has Sony Ericsson given us a 3.5mm audio jack along with a bevy of entertainment features too late? Find out.

Compact and solid build quality; 3.5mm audio jack; wide range of preinstalled games and apps; 8GB memory card included; bevy of connectivity options; respectable audio quality

Flimsy metal flip stand; bundled stereo headset still uses Fast Port connection with 3.5mm adapter; video capture at QVGA resolution; average image quality

The W995 is the first Walkman with a 3.5mm audio jack and we didn't miss the proprietary FastPort connector one single bit. The handset marries the celebrated traits of the Walkman player and imaging features on the Cyber-shot even though the latter...

It's great as a feature phone, but the middling screen size makes it less than appealing as a media player or for frequent Web browsing. The W995 Walkman retails for S$798 (US$621.21) without a two-year contract.

Sony Ericsson W995

By zeb (alaTest.co.uk)

Sony have pushed the bounderies of technology with this amazing new Walkman. With an amazing 8.1 MegaPixel Camera with great quality Video Recorder, images and clips can be kept for ages without another Sony Ericsson Walkman that can top it. The Phone has 2 Speakers, one on the top and one on the bottom for that great SurroundSound experience, although like most Phones, one is louder than the other. The experiance is made better with the Walkman Technology, whilst holding the Walkman button down and tilting the phone can ajust the volume easily without having to press the same button over and over, of course the volume buttons are still a feature. The Design of the new W995 is perfect in every way to use for entertainment on the move or in your own home in desperate times for a bit of amusement. The stand located on the back of the Phone supports the Phone at just the right angle, although it is only very useful if you use it on a flat surface. The Movies are very easy to obtain from Playnow-Arena but it's a shame that it's hard to get your own Movies onto the Phone. The quality is crisp and audio is just like the original DVD. This is a Phone for those People that love Entertainment on the move and love showing exciting new features to their friends. An exellent Phone!

Everything, Sony have pushed the bounderies of technology with this amazing new Walkman.

Not found much wrong, but Media Go is not all it seems, it's not helpful in anyway and would prefer File-Dragging.
