Sony Ericsson K660i review

Fast, fun web browsing on the move

Stylish design ; User-friendly browser ; 3G HSDPA ; Decent music player ; Quad band

Bog-standard camera ; No Wi-Fi

A quietly stylish, web-centred candybar workhorse

Sony Ericsson K660i

With a funky colour scheme and an emphasis on web browsing, Sony Ericsson hopes its K660i will stand out from the crowd.

The size and weight of this mobile meet with my approval too. At 95g the K660i is light to tote, and its 104mm of height, 47mm of width and 15m of thickness shouldn't challenge many pockets.

Sony Ericsson K660i review

This HSDPA-packing handset is aimed squarely at social networking and web addicts who need their quick fix on the run. Will it satisfy their cravings?

A garden variety 3G trooper with a hidden talent for slick full fat web browsing

Sony Ericsson K660i

First impressions do not always work out as you might expect but I have to admit that the Sony Ericsson K660i did not flatter to deceive and was one of those products that lived up to its initial appeal.

Measuring 104 x 47 x 15mm and weighing 95g, the Sony Ericsson K660i candy bar style phone is predominately black in colour with silver trims around the edges and a wine coloured bar highlighting the non-keypad controls. If this colour scheme does not...

Sony Ericsson - K660i

Sony Ericsson's K660i is yet another member of the company's seemingly never-ending parade of mobile phones. It is widely available but the lime-green and white version we reviewed can only be obtained from the 3 network ...

The Sony Ericsson K660i is nothing particularly special. Its Web browsing controls differentiate it from the crowd, and the lime-green and white version is eye-catching, but its features don't break any new ground.

Sony Ericsson K660i review

We review the Sony Ericsson K660i, a web-friendly 3G HSDPA-enabled mobile with dedicated browsing buttons and web-based applications

High-speed 3G with HSDPA mobile broadband connectivity ; Web-based illuminated shortcut keys ; Good quality music player ; Distinctive design ; Decent additional features lineup ; User-friendly operation

Average 2-megapixel camera with no flash ; Average video capture quality ; No Wi-Fi ; No 3.5mm headphone socket or adapter

A usefully equipped mid-range Sony Ericsson with welcome 3G HSDPA connectivity and a good spread of web-based features - though not much that's unique to this phone

Sony Ericsson K660i

Generally speaking, Sony Ericsson's segmentation of handsets, as its portfolio keeps growing, is starting to look pretty much messy. Coming from way back are its letter indexes, and the company's latest addition to models in all line-ups – “emotional”...

In Moscow we managed to squeeze around 2,5-3 days out of it with average use (up to an hour of calls, 30 minutes of games, 20 minutes of web-browsing, a couple of hours of music). In Europe its battery performance will get at least 1,5 times better all...

Sony Ericsson K660i

For the person who is constantly checking emails, football scores or their Facebook updates, the K660i will provide all the means necessary. Billed as a mid-range handset, this is one of the best in the market.

The mouse pointer provides a PC-like internet experience.

The provided headphones are too long and are prone to becoming tangled up.

Sony Ericsson K660i

A low- to mid-range handset clearly aimed at younger buyers, Sony Ericsson's K660i is a solid but far from outstanding mobile phone. Its Web browsing ...

Sleek and stylish design, HSDPA-capable, Internet shortcut keys, included M2 card for storage

No real outstanding features, display too small for Web browsing

The K660i's Web shortcut keys are a nice touch. It's a solid but far from outstanding handset.

Sony Ericsson K660i

There's more ticks than crosses next to the K660i, but ultimately this is a handset that fails to capture our imagination. HSDPA is nice, but it boosts the price of this phone well beyond otherwise similarly spec'd handsets, and we're not convinced...

HSDPA Web speeds, Handy Web shortcut keys, Good battery life, Bundled 256MB M2 memory card

Uninspiring candy-bar design, 2-inch QVGA not best for Web browsing
