Samsung Trance SCH-u490 (Verizon Wireless)

The glitzy, made-for-music Samsung Trance is a decent GPS-enabled voice phone, but it lacks 3G, and its music player disappoints.

Attractive. Standard-size headphone jack and side-mounted microSD card slot. Can multitask while playing music.

No 3G. Weak battery. Low-res screen. Side buttons are easily triggered during calls. Poor sound quality with music.

Samsung Trance review

While a lot of phones have integrated music players, few handsets qualify as bonafide MP3 phones. Not only do they have much better audio quality than most, but also they usually boast a few features that focus specifically on enhancing the music...

The Samsung Trance has a beautiful and sophisticated design, plus it has stereo Bluetooth and a 3.5 millimeter headset jack. The audio quality is fantastic, especially with 3D surround sound.

We weren't pleased with the flat touch-sensitive navigation array, and the photo quality isn't great. The Samsung Trance also doesn't have EV-DO, which means it can't download songs over-the-air.

The Samsung Trance is a great MP3 phone that combines excellent audio quality in a slim and attractive package.

Samsung Trance U490 Review

Since its introduction nearly three years ago, the LG Chocolate series has been one of the best selling music-centric phones offered by Verizon Wireless. Samsung then followed suit and tried to get a piece of the action with their Juke device, but it...

Samsung Trance (U490)

The Samsung Trance is a slick-looking music phone that is all about listening to music with everything from synching the cell phone with Rhapsody music service to it's Bang & Olufsen audio features to the ability to pair two stereo Bluetooth headsets...

Review: Samsung SCH-u490 Trance for Verizon review

The Samsung Trance is an affordable music phone for Verizon that is powered by Bang & Olufsen's ICEpower audio amplifier. Brian takes it out on the town for a test in this review.

Picture and text messaging provides the option to send to up to four different recipients from a single screen, which we thought could be very useful at times. It was also easy to type in the name of a person in the contact list in order to avoid...

Samsung Trance Review - Phone Reviews by Mobile Tech Review

The Samsung Trance is the latest music phone from Verizon Wireless with enhanced audio courtesy of Bang & Olufsen's ICEpower amp. The slider phone has ample internal memory and a built-in music player that can play mp3, non-copy-protected iTunes music...

Sporty, shiny looking phone. Good screen and excellent audio. Large internal memory and the music player can play tracks in a good selection of formats ;

No 3G EVDO and no over-the-air music download. Camera can’t record video

If you’re looking for a phone with a pretty face and a beautiful voice, the Samsung Trance fits the bill quite well. In addition you also get the built-in GPS that works with VZ Navigator and Chaperone, a roomy 1GB of internal memory, a microSD card...

Guess I was lucky.....

I've had this phone almost 2 years and even though it's a basic phone it works beautifully and still looks brand new. Reception is extremely clear and I reactivated it on Verizon after I made the mistake of buying the LG Cosmos Touch. Not a very...

Loud ringer, well designed and built, reliable and dependable.

Screen shows fingerprints, texting is old school and a pain.

Samsung Trance (U490)

It is a cool, stylish phone with good features at a great price. It's very durable. I've dropped it many times in the last 4 months and it still works fine. I'd recommend to anyone.

Light-weight, durable and reliable phone.

I've had this phone for almost a year, and I haven't had too many complaints. I like that it's light-weight and easily portable. It's not bulky or mis-shaped that it won't fit in my pants pocket or purse. Some of the phone is touch which makes it...

Samsung Trance - a good phone with with many options.

I purchased my Samsung Trance last year. I was wary of the Samsung brand, considering I had always used the LG phones. However, I am very pleased with it. I like the touch screen options it provides. It is easy to manuever, text, and take pics with....
