Samsung Katalyst (SGH-t739)

Samsung's Katalyst offers T-Mobile's Wi-Fi calling, but its reception and media options aren't the greatest.

Stylish design. Comfortable keyboard and button layouts. Wi-Fi calls sound clear and save money. Good battery life, even during Wi-Fi calls.

Spotty reception. Difficulty connecting to non-T-Mobile-supplied routers. Middling camera. No stereo Bluetooth.

Samsung SGH-T739

At first glance, the Samsung Katalyst seems much like any other cell phone. But this one has a trick up its sleeve: it's one of T-Mobile's line of HotSpot @Home handsets that can make calls over a Wi-Fi network as well as the carrier's cellular...

Samsung Katalyst-SGH-T739

At just over four ounces, the SGH-T739 may be a little heavy, but the device is also very slim. The slider phone design for the unit packs in a lot of useful service options. There is the Wi-Fi-based UMA connection that works very well with T-Mobile's...

Inclusion of the UMA connection is a nice touch ; Chrome trim gives the phone a certain sense of style ; The moderate price tag will make the phone attractive for many people

The memory card slot is only accessible by moving the battery ; Shortcuts are preprogrammed and cannot be changed

When it comes to audio quality, the sound is excellent. Secure connections make the incidence of dropped calls almost non-existent. The talk time on the T739 is excellent, at a full five hours between charges. Even the standby time is pretty decent,...

It's a phone!

I've had this phone for three years, dropped it countless times, and it still makes phone calls like a champ. The battery still holds its charge for a very long time. If you're looking for a phone that makes PHONE CALLS and not one of those silly...

Clear calls, doesn't drop calls, robust + durable construction, fairly customizable, 2 GB SD card expansion slot, battery lasts forever, you can add music if you really want to, you can upload your own ringtones to the phone if you're remotely computer...

File transfers from phone memory to SD card take an eternity, no 1/8" audio jack, no way to transfer text messages to SD card

Samsung SGH-T739

The Samsung SGH-T739 may look good, but it is not a cell phone you want to get. The bluetooth only works for headsets which is a problem. Speaker volume is below average. Also, it has it's own USB cord which cant be used with other Samsung phones....

Samsung SGH-T739
