Samsung’s mesh Wi-Fi/smart hub needs a better app

 

The Samsung Connect Home three-pack is also a SmartThings hub and covers 4,500 square feet. But for the price, the app will leave you wanting more.

The system works as a midtier router and a SmartThings home automation hub, all controlled by a single app.

The app. Setup can be a challenge and you can't customize many of the settings. You may need additional units to get the speed and coverage your want, which can be costly.

The Samsung Connect Home will give you adequate Wi-Fi coverage in a large home, and you can connect SmartThings devices to it without having to buy a separate hub. But for the price, you can find better options such as the AC3000 Netgear Orbi.

Not every smartphone stakes its claim on speedy processors, huge gorgeous screens or slim and sexy physiques. Some take a relatively modest set of specs

Solidly built, relatively sleek design ; Best choice in its niche ; Long battery life ; Decent photo quality

Frustratingly slow ; Not all bloatware is uninstallable

The Rugby Smart is clearly the best option in its class. Unfortunately, being the top rugged smartphone doesn't mean much.

Personally, I'm not too keen on rugged devices. I don't live a tough enough lifestyle to justify owning one (except that time I wrestled a 6-year-old over the last bear claw), and as CNET's Brian Bennett so accurately put it, finding one that doesn't...

The Samsung Rugby Smart's rugged but slim design can withstand a dunking and a slam against the wall. Its camera comes with many features, and images and videos look great on the Super AMOLED screen.

The Rugby Smart's voice quality is a little muffled and the camera's autofocus feature isn't the fastest.

The Samsung Rugby Smart can take plenty of punches, without skimping on the smartphone features. Unlike other rugged phones, it's easy on the eyes and it can run on 4G.
