Slick and polished, but not quite perfect

Very quick ; Fantastic screen ; Vastly improved keyboard

No microSD slot ; Vanilla Android UI ; Poor video/lack of HD video

Is Android 2.3 and a curved screen enough of an upgrade?

Snappy OS ; Android 2.3 with early future updates ; Stunning AMOLED screen ; Improved battery life ; Cool lock screen animation

Underpowered UI ; Not enough Home screen widgets ; Slight freezing at times ; Light design ; Random phone restarting

Google Nexus S review

Google has turned to Samsung for the next generation of Nexus device, this time known as the Google Nexus S. The “S” heritage plays it straight down the line as an evolution of the Samsung Galaxy S.

Excellent screen, great feeling phone in the hand, fast, access to all the Android goodies, keyboard improvements are great

Not the greatest video player, no HD video capture, lacks the consumer extras that rival devices will offer you

If Android is what you want, this is the purest form you’ll find and it is well worth considering

Google Nexus S review

The flagship handset for Google Android 2.3 'Gingerbread', Google's Nexus S is largely similar to the Samsung Galaxy S on which it's based. Its 16GB memory can't be expanded, however.

We can see why Google chose the Samsung handset design to show off its Gingerbread 2.3 OS – unlike the many HTC and LG devices, it’s distinctive. Judged against the stunning Desire HD, however, the Google Nexus S is unable to convince us of its supremacy.

Google Nexus S

Last year, Google produced its own Android phone, the Nexus One. It was a neat handset, made for the search giant by HTC, but because it was mostly sold direct by Google it never became mass-market (HTC's Desire stole its thunder). This year Google has...

The absence of removable storage, it turns out, is the phone's major fault – one among a huge range of successes on a decidedly attractive handset.

With, a curved screen, NFC, Android 2.3 and a beautiful chassis, this is definitely a top-notch smartphone.

Some people have been a bit disappointed with the Google Nexus S, pointing out that with dual core, high resolution smartphones around the corner, it doesn't really push the boat out far enough for what is supposed to be a flagship device, especially...

When Google said that there would be no Nexus Two handset to follow up the Nexus One, it was technically right, as the next smartphone from the search giant is this, the Nexus S. Just as the Nexus One was manufactured by HTC and was basically the same...

It's the best Android phone on the market in terms of performance and features, but it's not necessarily the best value and build quality could be better.

Samsung Nexus S review

The first phone to ship with Google Android 2.3 (also known as 'Gingerbread') as well as the follow-up to last January's Nexus One, the Samsung Nexus S is a joint effort between Samsung and Google with some impressive features.

When Google and Samsung team up to make a phone to debut the latest and greatest version of Google Android, we bring high expectations. The Samsung Nexus S isn't a disappointment, but it isn't groundbreaking either. While the gyroscope and NFC are...

With an intriguing curved screen and Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board, this phone should have far reaching appeal.

Google Nexus S by Samsung review

If you want bells and whistles, the Google Nexus S smart phone has plenty to offer. It's not cheap, and it's complicated in places, but it's on the cutting edge of Android and it's likely to stay there for a while.

Runs the latest version of Android, 2.3 Gingerbread ; Big, beautiful screen ; Fast ; Packed with features ; Likely to get updates promptly

Some features are complicated to set up ; No big changes in Gingerbread ; NFC wireless technology isn't that useful yet ; No memory-card slot

The Google Nexus S is basically a pumped-up Samsung Galaxy S, with slightly curvier hardware. Android 2.3 Gingerbread makes the phone a speed demon, and, because it's a pure, untouched, unskinned version of the operating system, we're likely to see...
