PC Plus review: Samsung SGH-i300

Some smartphones suffer from too many features, but Samsung's done a good job of making the strongest features the easiest to access. You can almost forgive the feeble battery.

Samsung SGH-i300 review

More storage than the average smartphone

Good audio quality ; Easy-to-use design

Fairly bulky design

A well-featured phone, but it pays the price in terms of size and weight

Samsung i300 Windows Mobile Smartphone

Samsung has released the first phone in the UK to feature a hard disk. Enter the Windows Mobile powered i300 on the 02 network.

What the i300 is being billed as here is a competitor to both portable music players like the iPod nano and music phones like Sony Ericsson’s W800i, W550i and the new 3G W900i. It beats the Sony Ericssons hands down on storage capacity, but doesn’t...

Samsung SGH-i300 review

The i300 has a 3GB hard disk, a control wheel with more than a nod to the iPod's, and runs Windows 2003

More suited to pleasure than business but this is still a capable all-rounder

The battery life is acceptable, although you will lose access to the hard disk when the battery drops to a certain level. This will at least in theory give you a little bit of extra time to get home and recharge! The package does include an extra...

Samsung - SGH-i300

Windows Mobile Smartphones aren't the rarities they once were, but the SGH-i300 is something a little different, being the only Windows Mobile Smartphone with a built-in hard drive. The mechanical drive very quietly clicks away to ...

The SGH-i300 isn't the prettiest handset in the world, and it wouldn't win any contests for being slim or light. But 3GB of storage is not to be sniffed at, either by music fans or those of us who travel with USB key drives full of this and that.

Samsung SGH-i300

The first hard disk phone hits the shelves - here's what we think of it.

Three gigabytes of space might not seem huge but it is a massive leap on from most other handsets out there and easily enough to hold around 1,000 songs.

Whilst navigation around the phone is pretty straight forward and makes good use of the jog wheel, it isn't as straight forward as the standards set by the iPod.

Samsung i300

Several weeks ago we published a preview of Samsung i300. Then we had an early prototype, which allowed only preliminary conclusions about the smartphone. And lately we have got a working prototype of the model. So, now we publish a renewed and the...

We have no complaints of the connection quality. The call is loud and hard to miss, and the vibra is average in power. You can set MMF, MIDI, WMA or MP3 files as a call melody.
