Samsung Tocco Lite review

By Flora Graham (cnet.co.uk)

The Samsung Tocco Lite does a good job of scaling down touchscreen tech to fit in a pocket-sized, bargain-basement phone. A bright, responsive touchscreen ensures that basics like dialling and texting pose no problems, and the 3.2-megapixel camera is...

Responsive, bright touchscreen ; Built-in links to social-networking sites ; Expandable memory card slot ; Good battery life

No 3G connectivity ; Poor YouTube quality ; Troublesome USB connection ; User interface can be confusing ; No headphone adaptor

Conclusion Compared to other phones in its price range, Samsung's Tocco Lite is an impressive handset. Although its touchscreen is resistive, it's pleasant to use and responsive, and dialling and texting poses no problems. The user interface is...

But, without 3G, the Lite doesn't so much surf as paddle the Web

Samsung Tocco Lite GT-S5230

By Sandra Vogel (trustedreviews.com)

The Samsung Tocco Lite GT-S5230 is an affordable and light touchscreen phone.

Inexpensive, even on PAYG ; Good battery life ; Responsive touchscreen

No 3G ; No Wi-Fi ; No GPS

The Tocco Lite is a lovely handset with some annoying shortcomings. The lack of 3G is no surprise given its low price but the large screen made me wish for it (along with Wi-Fi and GPS). Oversized Widgets need some attention. But the touchscreen is...

Samsung Tocco Lite S5230

By Phil Lattimore (techradar.com)

Get the Tocco experience on a budget

Attractive design; Touchscreen user interface; Budget price; Decent usability; Good spread of features; Good battery performance

No 3G or Wi-Fi; Limited 3-megapixel camera; No smartphone functionality; No 3.5mm headphone socket; No GPS

Of course, Samsung isn't the first mobile maker to slip a low-ender touchscreen into its line-up. One knock-on effect from the iPhone's blazing success has been folk looking for a taste of touchscreen further down-range

Samsung Tocco Lite Review

By Editorial Team (recombu.com)

Considering it's a budget touchscreen phone the Tocco Lite's display is bright and crisp and very responsive.

The Samsung Tocco Lite is fine if you just want a touchscreen and the very basics. The touchscreen is very responsive and bright which is great but don't buy this phone if you want mobile Internet access or if you want to download apps.

This is a stylish touch-screen phone with great social networking for a good price

Samsung Star

By Hanleigh Daniels (techsmart.co.za)

The Samsung Star is a quadband GSM touch-screen cellphone with a WQVGA display, 3.2 megapixel camera, FM Radio, Bluetooth, HTML browser via GPRS and Edge, and Speakerphone.

Storage space is also limited with an internal memory capacity of 50 MB, but the external memory card slot can support up to 8 GB. You can’t hotswop the microSD card though, the implication of this being, you have to remove the battery and hence, turn...

As an all-round package though, the Samsung Star does impress and would be ideal anyone looking to make the switch from a traditional phone to an affordable touch-screen phone. The Star retails at a recommended R2199, but is currently available for...

Samsung Player One

By Florence Legrand (digitalversus.com)

The reception on the Samsung Player One isn't at all bad, even if we have already seen better elsewhere. Even with the volume turned up to maximum, you can still make out the caller's voice, which is good, and the sound doesn't suffer from muffling or...

Light and compact ; Refined design ; Easy-to-use Samsung interface ; Great quality for the price

Touchscreen could be more responsive ; Proprietary headphone jack ; Not much internal memory ; Not much use for web browsing

If you're after a multimedia phone at a low price, the One could well be the phone for you. But if you want a phone that will allow you to surf all day, then you should look elsewhere. It's not a bad phone, this little One.

One of the widgets gives direct access to your contacts, and another allows you to scroll through photos of your contacts as you can see in the photo above. That's another feature we've seen before, then ...

Samsung Star (S5230) mobile phone

By Ross Catanzariti (goodgearguide.com.au)

Samsung's Star is an entry-level, prepaid mobile phone that features the company's TouchWIZ UI.

Compact, responsive touch screen, TouchWIZ UI, good on-screen keyboards, price ;

No 3G, screen isn't particularly sharp, widgets could be improved, no dedicated apps ;

Other features include a basic 3.2-megapixel camera without flash, a suite of PIM functions, an FM radio, voice recorder, music player and Bluetooth connectivity. A microSD card slot for extra storage is included, but it's under the battery so you'll...
