Samsung Galaxy S2 review

Updated We take another look at the Samsung Galaxy S2 with the upgraded Ice Cream Sandwich software and the latest 4.0.4 upgrade - is it still a stellar phone?

Super-fast reaction times ; Slim design ; Ridiculously clear screen ; Clear call quality ; 1080p video recording

Flimsy back cover ; Poor keyboard layout ; Samsung Apps portal

Samsung Galaxy S2 review

Samsung Galaxy S2 Review: The S2 offers an exciting batch of features, from a super repsonsive 4.3-inch touchscreen to a generous 8-megapixel camera

Glorious screen, thin body ; Decent battery performance ; Good camera/video mode

Feels plasticky ; Can't play some Tegra games

Our main complaint about the S2 is the build. It’s doesn’t feel premium and considering it will set you back close to £500 on pre-order, this isn’t good enough.

Samsung Galaxy S II review

The Samsung Galaxy S II is a serious smartphone. It has everything, at least on paper. But just because a phone comes fitted with the latest version of the Android operating system, a dual core processor and a size of screen you could you could pop on...

Hugely powerful, TouchWiz 4 doesn't spoil the Android experience, lightweight, fantastic display

Not much unless you are really picky

The Samsung Galaxy S II is better than any other Android smartphone to have hit the market so far. It has everything you could want and will need and each of those functions it more or less excels at. It’s fast, it’s bright, it’s clear and, joy of...

Samsung Galaxy S II: Android smartphone

Samsung's original Galaxy S was very impressive – can its successor live up?

Fast, slim and lightweight; great screen

Unnecessary software

One of the best Android phones available, with a great screen and fast processor

Samsung Galaxy S2 review

The S II is the follow up to Samsung's incredibly popular Galaxy S Android smartphone.

Nine months might be an eternity in smartphone development, but the Galaxy S II still holds its own very well against more recently released devices. While its price has fallen since its launch, Samsung’s handset is still an expensive option.

Samsung Galaxy S2 review

The Samsung Galaxy S2 crams a gorgeous display, lightning-fast processor and powerful camera into one of the slimmest, lightest smart phones we've ever had the pleasure to hold. The Android operating system could be more user-friendly, but it's never...

Beautiful 4.3-inch screen ; Insanely slim and light ; Very fast ; Great camera ; Attractive design ; Endless features and customisation options

Filled with app bloatware ; Menus are confused in places ; Not as user-friendly as HTC and iPhone rivals

Samsung Galaxy S II

The Galaxy S II's large Super AMOLED Plus screen and lightweight build are impressive, and there's a useful software bundle running under Android 2.3. This is a very expensive smartphone, but if you have the budget, we heartily recommend it.

1.2GHz dual-core processor ; 4.3in. Super AMOLED Plus screen ; 8-megapixel main camera, 2-megapixel front camera ; Good range of apps ; Fair battery life

Flimsy backplate ; Screen may be too large for those with small hands ; Screen resolution could be higher ; MicroSD card slot is under the battery

The Samsung Galaxy S II is the most advanced smartphone we've seen to date. The large Super AMOLED Plus screen and lightweight build are impressive, and there are some software highlights — notably the ability to create and edit office documents and...

Samsung Galaxy S II Review

Fast, powerful, with dazzling design and great battery life, the Galaxy S II is an irresistible Android handset

Samsung has pulled out all the stops with the Galaxy S II i9100. It’s squeezed its best-quality 4.3-inch screen, an 8MP camera and a super-fast dual-core processor into a surprisingly slim case. In fa

Samsung Galaxy S 2 hands-on test

The Samsung Galaxy S II reboots one of our favourite Android smart phones with a new screen, dual-core processor and more angular case. Our fingers and toes are crossed that its software is more reliable than that of the Galaxy S.

Powerful Android 2.3 Gingerbread software ; Screen should be brighter and less reflective than that of the Galaxy S ; Kies syncing software will get a welcome refresh

Samsung's widgets may be disappointing

The Samsung Galaxy S II looks sleeker and more powerful than its much-loved predecessor. The screen should blind us with its beauty, and a dual-core processor should keep Android 2.3 Gingerbread running at its sweet-tasting best. We just hope the phone...

Samsung Galaxy S2

It's Samsung's best smartphone to date, but is it the best in the market?

Vibrant AMOLED display ; Fast processor ; Customised interface works well

Less than perfect built quality ; Mediocre battery life

The Galaxy S should have been a cracking handset and in many ways it is. Its screen is very good, it's fast, it's packed with features, and looks pretty decent as well. Certainly if you're looking for a large and powerful Android smartphone, it's up...
