Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 Review

As we've plainly pointed out in our review of the Samsung Galaxy Player 3.6, it would astound us to know that someone would even fathom choosing it over an entry-level Android powered smartphone from any of the prepaid carriers out there. Frankly,...

Good battery life ; Better build quality

General choppy performance ; Shoots muddy photos & videos

We’ve said it before people and we’ll continue to say it again – well, that’s unless a future variant is outfitted with better hardware. On the outside, it’s fairly evident that the Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 is a beefy looking dedicated media device,...

Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 Review: No Contract Necessary

With a 4.2-inch screen, 1GHz processor, and a $200 suggested retail price, the Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 is the latest version of Android's answer to the Apple iPod Touch. Brighthand investigates how well it fares.

Good value ; Solid feature set

Weak camera ; Casing is cheap and prone to smudging

With a much better screen than the

One of the best players I have used so far!

All in All it is a great mp3 player. Have mine overclocked to 1.5ghz and it runs smoothly. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great mp3 player that is versatile and easy to use. Also the battery life on this is amazing for a mp3 player like this.

- Battery life - 5" screen - Google Play store - Light weight - Android powered linux OS

- Some stock software is a little lame

A key feature is missing: no HDMI capability!

Samsung really messed up when they failed to produce a player with a mini or micro hdmi-out port. In this day and age, who can justify a higher end media player that doesn't have the capability to play on a stereo or regular tv. Even if Samsung used...

Fits in hand nicely, nice screen resolution. Lots of nice features.

No HDMI capability. Even the inexpensive Visual Land tablets, the Double Power M7088 tablet, FileMate Clear and a number of other tablets have HDMI out via a simple Micro or Mini HDMI port.

Flawless design, easy to use

While I have been a fan of CNET for many years, often using it to review software and electronics, this is the first time I felt compelled to write a review because I felt the reviewer was completely biased and flat out wrong. For the last 10yrs I have...

Beautiful sleek design, easy to navigate, large memory capacity (easy to use larger memory cards than what it says), not sealed, large screen, easy to put music and photos on it, all the benefits of a phone except the talking, price is more than fair

Can't find any right now!

Super, great, ideal media player!

Amazing that in 2013 one would expect a media player like this to feel dated. Not so. Even though I have an iPod Touch I much rather use my Samsung Media Player 5.0. One would assume that technology would have made this model obsolete, however it...

Light, big screen, easy to use, excellent video playback, looks good, nice stereo speakers.

Specs could be better but it performs just fine as is.

Whats not to love?? It fits the bill for us.

Being that we wanted access to the Internet without having to pay a monthly service charge that a smartphone would incur we researched tablets and notebooks and came up with this selection. Easy to slip in your pocket and when near a WIFI connection...

Perfect size, simple to use, WIFI capability, nice selection of Apps, great little camera for both forward and reverse facing, everything a smart phone has -except- the phone and -monthly- payments (whoopee)

At this time little selection availible for a soft case cover

5 inch Screen! Beautiful White Backing Removable Memory (Up to 32 gigs) Samsung&Android App market (Not to mention Google Play that you can put on there)

Somewhat Basic

Much better value than I was initially anticipated

As I said in a previous post, I originally was greatly disappointed with this device initially after owning it for a couple of days, but now I see that this Galaxy Player device has really wowed me with what it can do, despite the bad and WORST advice...

Loaded with built-in features, along with great Android apps which enhance it's abilities. 3.2 mp Camera with Flash, FM Radio (with RDS ability from Android app), Nice screen, ability to play all music files, watching movies, GPS, WiFi.

Battery life is not as good as I was hoping for. I am only getting about 4 hours of battery life in all. With a Li-Ion battery like this, I should be getting no less than 10+ hours or so of battery life. Samsung should look into and get it fixed.
