Samsung Galaxy Nexus review

Updated The Samsung Galaxy Nexus was the world's first phone to run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) but has now been imbued with Android 4.1 to improve it further.

Jelly Bean makes things smoother ; Stunning screen ; Keyboard and internet fantastic ; Future-proofed with NFC

Only five homescreens ; Other UI's offer better social networking ; No microSD slot or FM Radio ; Battery life disappointing

Samsung Galaxy Nexus review

We've managed to get hands on with Google's latest flagship phone the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, with a screen that could rival the HTC Titan and Android 4.0 on board it's time to put it to the test

Beautiful screen ; Ice Cream Sandwich ; Fantastic power

5MP camera ; Missing notifications ; Limited apps

While it might be too big for everyone’s taste, the Nexus is a beautiful handset. The screen is vibrant and one of the best we’ve seen on any handset to date.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus review

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is probably the most anticipated Android device for 2011. Each Nexus is special because it ushers in a new wave of software. In this case it is the launch device for Android 4.0, otherwise known as Ice Cream Sandwich.

Sharp display is wonderful at full brightness, Android 4, you'll be first in the queue for software updates, NFC, lightweight, video looks sensational

As display dims it becomes grubby, auto brightness too aggressive, no microSD card slot, early adopters will have to wait for app developers to catch up

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus offers an excellent Android experience that's hugely impressive, but we really believe it will be surpassed by others within the next few months

Samsung Galaxy Nexus review

While it lacks the refined aesthetics of the iPhone 4S, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus impresses with a 4.65-inch HD screen and the slick new Android 4.1 operating system.

Amazing HD screen ; Android 4.1 is fantastic ; 1080p video recording

Only 5-megapixel camera ; Design is a little uninspiring ; Memory can't be expanded

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is a smart phone that's now sporting the very latest version of Google's operating system -- Android 4.1, also known as Jelly Bean.

The first Ice Cream Sandwich phone appears - but does it give us brain freeze?

Amazingly sharp 720p screen ; Android 4.0 software is great ; 1080p video recording ; Excellent performance

AMOLED display not flawless ; Non-expandable memory ; All-plastic frame

A massive screen, dual-core processor and fantastic camera make this new flagship Android worthy of the title, but it's Android 4.0 that's the real star of the show

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Review: In Depth

"Camera-4/5 Browser-5/5 Display-5/5 Battery-3/5 Design-4/5 The next evolution of Android, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus runs Ice Cream Sandwich - Android 4.0 - and features a 720p HD AMOLED screen."

Pure Android is much improved ; Beautiful, HD Super AMOLED display ; Light for its size

Not as solid as other flagship phones ; Camera suffers at night ; Volume drop bug affecting some users

Purpose built for Ice Cream Sandwich, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus works harmoniously with its operating system. The button-less OS is showcased by its curved, smooth fascia. With its large HD Super AMOLED screen the form complements the engaging new Ice...

Review: Galaxy Nexus

The recently announced smartphone from Google and Samsung features impressive specifications and the latest Android OS. Read our review.

Tons of new and very welcome features with Ice Cream Sandwich; design is sharp; screen is gorgeous; internal performance is fantastic

Ice Cream Sandwich has eliminated some of Android's learning curve in some aspects, just to re-create it in others; some static on calls; like other Samsung Galaxy devices, the Galaxy Nexus feels rather fragile

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is unmistakably an Android phone. It's powerful, you can tinker with it down to its core, and it offers some features the iPhone can't touch. Without a doubt, Android fans will see the Galaxy Nexus that way and they're likely...
