Samsung Focus review

We review the Samsung Focus - a top Windows Phone 7 handset from AT

Stunning screen ; Windows Phone 7 seamless ; microSD memory card slot

No cut and paste

The Samsung Focus is a stunning handset to kick off Windows Phone 7. It's easy to use and coupled with a top screen, one to watch in AT&T's smartphone lineup.

Samsung Focus S review: Different kind of flagship

The Samsung Focus S is the top dog in the Korean company's Windows Phone lineup. It is the bigger brother of the Samsung Focus Flash in AT&T's smartphone lineup.

4.3" 16M-color Super AMOLED Plus screen with WVGA resolution (480 x 800 pixels) ; Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support ; 3G with HSDPA (14.4 Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76Mbps) ; Windows Phone 7.5 operating system ; Ability to uninstall wireless provider’s...

No system-wide file manager ; Non-expandable memory ; No Bluetooth file transfers ; No USB mass storage mode ; Limited third-party apps availability ; No Flash (nor Silverlight) support in the browser ; Too dependent on Zune software for file...

It seems hard to find a better player than the Samsung Focus S in the US Windows Phone game at the moment. The device’s hardware is as good as it gets for the platform, but its main selling point is certainly the Super AMOLED Plus screen – its...

Samsung Focus S review

The deluge of Mango devices isn't over yet. Hot on the heels of the Lumia 800, the Titan, Radar and the wallet-friendly Focus Flash comes the Samsung

Gorgeous screen ; Epic battery life ; Delightful dedicated camera button

Questionable build quality ; Ho-hum specs ; Overpriced

A solid phone that doesn't quite feel deserving of its high-end price.

Samsung Focus S (AT&T)

We're still waiting for the first truly high-end Windows Phone device, but the Focus S comes closer than any other before it.

Incredibly thin design. Vibrant screen. Smooth performance. Good camera.

No dual-core processor or true 4G data. Short battery life. Not as many third-party apps as you get with Android or iOS.

Multimedia, Camera, and Conclusions There's a standard-size 3.5mm headphone jack on top of the phone and a roomy 16GB of internal storage. There's no microSD card slot, but Microsoft's sync software, available for both PCs and Macs, is easy to use and...

Samsung Focus S: A Standout Windows Phone

The Samsung Focus was my favorite of the first generation Windows Phones so I was excited when I heard that Samsung was releasing not one, but two new versions of the Focus with the Mango 7.5 update. The Samsung Focus S ($100 with a two-year contract...

Gorgeous Super AMOLED display ; Good 8-megapixel camera ; Smooth performance

Faint hiss in background of some calls ; Windows Phone 7 has some limitations ; Phone feels a bit plasticky

The Samsung Focus S is the best Windows Phone available with smooth performance, a great camera and a gorgeous display.

Samsung Focus S (AT&T) review

The Windows Phone OS has arrived on a number of good handsets, but none of the manufacturers has yet been able to produce a killer Windows Phone for the U.S. market...until now. The Samsung Focus S, introduced by AT&T, is a beautiful device: it's thin,...

The Samsung Focus S has a gorgeous, large touch screen; a good 8-megapixel camera; a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera; and HSPA+ speeds.

Thin and less than 4 ounces in weight, the phone lacks durability.

Bolstered by a brilliant display and strong hardware specs, the Samsung Focus S is arguably the best Windows Phone ever released.

Samsung Focus (AT&T) review: Samsung Focus (AT&T)

Editors' note: In our reviews of the HTC Surround and the Samsung Focus, we point out some of the more major features of Windows Phone 7, but for a more detailed look at the full operating system, please check out our in-depth review of Windows Phone 7 .

The Samsung Focus features a brilliant 4-inch Super AMOLED touch screen. The smartphone has good quality, and the camera takes excellent photos and video. Windows Phone 7 brings a fresh and friendly user interface, great multimedia capabilities, and an...

No copy and paste yet. Limited support for landscape mode. Xbox Live games slow to load. The phone feels a bit plasticky. No direct syncing for non-Exchange Outlook accounts; must go through the cloud.

Anyone looking for an alternative to the iPhone, but who wants better multimedia features and a more organized user interface than Android offers, should look at the Samsung Focus with Windows Phone 7, which has all that plus solid performance and a...

Samsung Focus Review - PCWorld

When I first heard that Microsoft would be placing hardware restrictions on manufacturers, I imagined boring, uniform designs. Fortunately, the Samsung Focus is undoubtedly a Samsung phone with its glossy piano-black face and rounded edges.

Great camera

Call quality is a mixed bag

The Samsung Focus is beautifully designed with a gorgeous display and solid 5-megapixel camera, but it remains to be seen if Microsoft can win over customers with Windows Phone 7.

Samsung Focus (AT&T)

The Samsung Focus is the best of the Windows Phone 7 crop so far.

Slim and light. Gorgeous Super AMOLED screen.

Very few apps or games for this brand-new platform. Clearly 1.0 software.

Samsung Focus S Review

The Samsung Focus S seemingly fits the bill as being a premier AT&T offering that's sure to melt the hearts of many with its Super AMOLED Plus display, slim figure, and HSPA+ connectivity. Can this possibly make the A grade and become the Windows...
