Samsung Droid Charge Review - Droid Goes LTE

Samsung is doing something interesting lately. Instead of outright releasing Galaxy S 2 in the US, each carrier is getting a mid-cycle refresh of the Galaxy S with 4G compatibility and more recently Super AMOLED Plus. T-Mobile was first with the...

Samsung Droid Charge (Verizon)

Verizon now has a second 4G LTE smartphone joining its ranks, the Samsung Droid Charge. This sweet Android handset delivers some of the fastest data speeds we've ever seen, has a beautiful 4.3-inch super AMOLED display, and a great camera. But is this...

Samsung Droid Charge (Verizon Wireless)

The Samsung Droid Charge on Verizon Wireless delivers 4G performance and a superb camera and camcorder.

Fast 4G performance. Ultra-vibrant Super AMOLED Plus screen. Stellar camera and camcorder.

Plastic housing feels cheap. Older CPU benchmarks behind its competitors. Battery life not terrific.

Samsung treads a bit more lightly than HTC with its UI layer. Most of the apps are stock, albeit with minor color or graphic enhancements. This is good and bad; I missed HTC's excellent address book layout, which looks livelier and makes it easier to...

Samsung Droid Charge review

It was about five months ago that the plainly named Samsung 4G LTE Smartphone was first introduced at CES 2011 , but now the Android smartphone is ready to rip it up on Verizon's 4G network, and, thankfully, it's got a new name. The Samsung Droid...

The Samsung Droid Charge has a gorgeous Super AMOLED Plus touch screen. Verizon's 4G LTE data speeds are superfast, and the smartphone offers longer battery life than the HTC ThunderBolt. Call quality and camera quality are also good.

The Droid Charge is large. It's also pricey, especially considering it doesn't have some of the latest features, like a dual-core processor.

It's not the prettiest or most advanced smartphone, but the Samsung Droid Charge takes advantage of Verizon's great 4G data speeds, while offering decent battery life.

Droid Charge

We're still shaking our heads and sighing longingly at the performance of Samsung's Galaxy S II, a phone that wowed us in Europe but likely won't be coming to American shores for some time -- and who knows what it'll look like when it does. But don't...

Brilliant Super AMOLED Plus display ; Superb battery life ; Light weight

Plasticy design ; Single-core performance ; Cost

Samsung Charge

CORRECTION: The original version of this review referred to the phone's micro-USB port as a "mini-USB" port. We regret the error.

The Super AMOLED screen is impressive ; 4G LTE service is very fast

Phone is large, lacking in distinctive design ; Battery wears out too soon

The LTE speeds dazzle, the AMOLED display shines, and you get a free mobile hotspot at least for a little while. What's not to like? Well, the battery life disappoints, but that may not be enough to spoil the fun.

Samsung Droid Charge vs HTC ThunderBolt

Two titans enter the ring: the Samsung Droid Charge in one corner and the HTC ThunderBolt in the other. Both can use Verizon's new 4G LTE network, and come with a host of features, such as a large display, 1GHz processor, 8MP camera, and 32GB of...

It has been a little over a month since we reviewed Verizon's first 4G LTE smartphone, the HTC ThunderBolt, as we were impressed by its data speeds, software, and overall performance, though we are still having an issue with the device cycling through...

Samsung Droid Charge Review: The Droid Brand Goes 4G

Droid. When the brand launched, this was a name that stood for something. While the iPhone enthralled consumers with a friendly, easy, but ostensibly restrictive experience, Droid retaliated with the motto “Droid Does.” It was all about superior...
