Tough polycarbonate chassis ; Free Nokia Drive sat nav ; Camera and screen

Average battery life ; Media still a pain to transfer ; Port flaps won't last

Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop called this the ‘first real Windows Phone’ and based on this performance, it’s hard not to agree - if you can stand the slightly smaller screen, that is.

Nokia Lumia 800 review

Nokia is dead, long live Nokia. Having been written off in the Western world, Nokia is throwing all its eggs in one basket and hoping that its latest phone, the Windows Phone 7 powered Nokia Lumia 800, has what it takes to wow.

AMOLED screen, Nokia Drive, Nokia Music, Design

No front facing camera, no nfc, no replaceable battery

Get this and you will be deemed an agitator and not someone with just another iDevice or a big screened Android smartphone.

UPDATED: We've now updated this review based on usage of the Nokia Lumia 800 for around four months, which has included the first formal OS update, so take a look at our updated findings, complete with star rating.

Quality design ; Clever interface ; Speedy browser ; Intuitive contact linking ; Xbox integration

Internet text display dodgy at times ; No Flash video ; Zune player takes ages to copy video across ; Video recording not impressive ; Battery issues still prevail

The Nokia Lumia 800 is quite reasonably priced, costing nothing on as little as a £26 Orange or Vodafone contract with Carphone Warehouse compared with HTC Titan starting at £31 pm with Vodafone and £36 pm with Orange. Next Page: Interface

Stylish looks, great build quality, promising operating system

Mediocre screen and camera quality

The Lumia 800 looks lovely and Windows Phone 7 shows promise, but the screen's quality is disappointing for a smartphone at this price.

The Lumia 800 is a slick and engaging smart phone and its Windows Phone software has excellent social media integration. However, its camera isn't as good as we expected and we can't help but feel that there's better to come from Nokia on the Windows...
