Nokia E61 smartphone - Pocket-lint

A solid phone that offers plenty for the business user afraid to leave the comfort of the Nokia interface

Large crisp screen, full keypad, comes with BlackBerry Connect software

No digital camera for non business users

The Nokia E61 is one of many smartphone options available from T-Mobile and it's clear that it's an alternative to the BlackBerry - or the company's own branded Vario range - rather than a replacement. The real crux of whether you choose the E61 over...

RIM may have just launched the best BlackBerry ever, but Nokia is up for a fight.

Nokia E61 review

Is Blackberry's domination of the mobile email market finally coming to an end? Nokia certainly hopes so, with its E61.

A solid smartphone that wouldn’t look out of place in Nick Leeson’s pocket.

Nokia E61 Review

The Nokia E61will soon be replaced by the upgraded E61i but until this happens you will find the Nokia one of the best connectivity devices on the market.

The E61 is not perfect due to its SD card placement and lack of camera so if this is a concern we recommend you wait for the E61i launch. Otherwise the E61 is a useful device for connectivity on the fly.

Nokia E61

This BlackBerry-shaped silver slab is one of Nokia's newest offerings, and is aimed at the same market once owned by its 9500 and 9300 Communicators. But unlike the Communicators, this phone isn't based on a clamshell design with a decent keyboard.

Good display, excellent email and browsing, support for BlackBerry and other messaging services, built-in QWERTY keyboard, good office features

Keyboard not ideal for extended typing sessions, no touch screen, iSync needs external plug-in, no camera, VoIP not available for home users

Overall, the E61 is perhaps best thought of as a communications device, rather than a full PDA. The full features of a PDA are buried inside it, but the form factor makes it tricky to use them to best effect. However, email, browsing and messaging are...

Nokia E61 with 3G

Strange how a company such as T-Mobile can supply the excellent Nokia E61 well before Nokia can. Using it with T-Mobile's Web ‘n' Walk software using 3G says there was after all a point to all those expensive licences.

While connection speeds were not up to 'broadband' they are rapid and knock GPRS totally for six. The Nokia E61 is a device that looks more like a PDA than a phone but in fairness it's more than both combined. Anyone needing to connect, communicate and...

Nokia E61 mobile phone

Blackberry isn't the only e-mail in town

Nokia's E61 is an excellent device let down by poor PC software. The physical characteristics are just right and the screen is outstanding. When coupled to a 3G service such as Web 'n Walk the E61 not only is a good e-mail device but is good for Web...
