I wonder how this would have turned out if it were like a dual slider? I think I could have lived with that if it gave me a bit bigger of a screen. This phone rocks, it's like the E75's kid brother but with more RAM and a better camera.I had an 5800XM...

Nokia's 5730 XpressMuisc phone is stuffed to the gills with features, but is it actually any good? Niall investigates.
With its slide out keyboard, onboard GPS, dedicated music buttons and N-Gage support, the 5730 is certainly packed with features. However, we found it a difficult phone to love because of its chunky dimensions and awkward controls. The simple fact of...

You have to admire the sheer range of features that the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic has to offer. But these features come at a cost, as the handset is very bulky and quite fiddly to use. For the price, we think there are much better devices on the market
Good music player ; On-board GPS ; Support for N-Gage gaming platform
Bulky and heavy ; Fiddly buttons
Conclusion The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic comes across as a phone that's trying too hard to be all things to all people. It seems like Nokia has taken a design it was working on for its Eseries handsets, tacked a few extra buttons on and stuck in support...
The end result is a feature-rich phone that's not very much fun to use, due to its bulky size and fiddly buttons

The 5730 XpressMusic is Nokia's latest music phone
Wi-Fi and HSDPA connectivity; Excellent music player audio performance; 3.5mm headphone socket; A-GPS satellite positioning and Nokia Maps; S60 smartphone functionality; Slide out full QWERTY keyboard; Good earphones; 8GB MicroSD card supplied
Bulky design; 3.2-megapixel camera isn't great; Control pad awkward; Some feature options buried in menus; No touchscreen operation
Its typical S60 multimedia capabilities are supplemented by a 3.2-megapixel camera, sporting a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens

"The Nokia 5730 Xpress Music has its music controls situated handily on the side of the front panel."
With GPS, you can use the onboard map apps to navigate your way around, and the handset offers HSDPA connectivity (super-fast 3G) and Wi-Fi.

This Nokia is like the mullet of mobile phones; business up front, party out the back. The mix of business and consumer features will be welcomed by some, but could leave the 5730 in a techno-limbo.

In part 1 of this review, I looked at the 5730 XpressMusic's hardware and reckoned it was the red-headed, counter-culture twin of the more staid E75. Now it's time to look at the 5730's software bundle, at its multimedia, and to deliver my overall...
The New S60 Homescreen Themes It's perhaps a measure of how mature the main one-handed UI is in S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2, that the principal things to talk about in terms of interface on the 5730 XpressMusic concern just its homescreen. As with a...
Having both shortcuts and contacts on the same homescreen brings a touch of N97 glamour to this rather more lowly S60 phone and I rather enjoyed using it. Applications The bulk of the S60 applications included in the Nokia 5730 will be very familiar to...
