Moto G5S review

The Moto G5 puts on a snazzy suit

Great build quality ; Decent (if patchy) camera ; Strong battery life

No performance boost over G5 ; No dual-lens camera from Plus ; Much more competition

Motorola’s budget phones are always solid and reliable, but the Moto G5S adds a hint of premium glamour to the package with an all-metal body. It’s just a shame the improvements elsewhere don’t go quite as far as the Moto G5S Plus though.

Motorola Moto G5s review

The Moto G5 wasn't perfect, and the G5s improves upon it – except for performance. Here's our Moto G5s review.

Moto G5S

Moto G5S review: A great sub-£250 phone for buyers on a budget

Premium design ; Good software ; All-day battery life

Not the fastest phone at this price

The rear facing camera consists of a 16MP sensor behind an f/2.0 lens. It takes takes perfectly fine pictures in various lighting conditions. Like all cheap camera phones, things look great when the light is working with you. And when it isn’t, you’ll...

Motorola Moto G5S review: Is this the best budget smartphone yet?

The G5S is a step in the right direction, but at £220 it's hard to recommend over its rivals and its cheaper siblings

All-metal design ; Fast fingerprint reader ; Incredible rear camera

No faster than the Moto G4 ; Mediocre battery life

The competition is tough, too. Personally, I’d pick the £160 Lenovo P2 over the G5S, as it offers better performance and incredible battery life for quite a bit less cash. Alternatively, the Vodafone Smart V8 is another excellent all-round choice,...

Motorola Moto G5S review: A sharper take on the Moto G5

A decent upgrade on the Moto G5, with a nice redesign and an excellent camera

Motorola deserves credit for responding to criticism of the G5, and with the Moto G5S it’s certainly got some things right. The new design is beautiful, the screen is bright and punchy and the camera has gone from a mediocre snapper to a best-in-class...

Motorola Moto G5s Smartphone

Camera evolution. The special edition of the Moto G5 is intended to add to Motorola's selection of mid-range smartphones, and there have been a number of changes to make that happen. Most notably, the camera has been significantly enhanced. In our...

robust, attractive case ; almost no bloatware ; accurate GPS ; Loud, decent sound characteristics on speaker ; good camera ; precise handling ; performance carries over well to everyday tasks ; does not heat up much

battery could last longer ; screen has low contrast-levels in comparison ; high power-drain at load ; unexceptional microphone

The Moto G5s is a successful evolution of its predecessor and has changed less than appears at first glance: more memory, improved camera, larger screen and a new speaker. Furthermore, the new camera sensors perform very decently: photos taken with the...

Do it's only a little upgrade from the basic motto g5

I recently lost my Moto g5 and looking online the price I paid for my original g5 was enough to get the special edition. Even though there isn't much difference in hardware between the phones the g5 s just seams more refined and I'd recommend it too...
