Meizu MX6 review

An iPhone look-alike that's surprisingly good value for money

Premium design ; Speedy performance ; Low price

Iffy software ; Average camera ; No NFC or microSD slot

Meizu may be relatively unheard of in the west, but the MX6 continues the company’s track record of making smartphones with a familiar design and key features at a much lower price than big name rivals. It’s good value, but fails to excite.

Meizu MX6 review

The MX6 is the latest mid-range Android phone from Meizu, with a good all-round specification. We review the Meizu MX6.

The Meizu MX6 is a nicely designed phone, but compared to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Elephone S7 it is expensive and underpowered. The MX6 still has a great deal to offer at around £250, but we're not keen on Flyme OS or mTouch, and the MX6's camera...

Meizu's new MX6 offers an iPhone-inspired design for Android fans

It's hard not to notice that Meizu's MX6 bears striking similarity to Apple's handsets, but the phone offers quality and more.

Snappy, but not snap happy, the speedy MX6 gets sidelined for its poor camera.

Meizu MX6 Review

Meizu is one of those brand names you may have only heard of if you were a bit of an extreme smartphone geek (like most of us here are). As you may have guessed, it's hailing from China, and is a natural competitor to the slightly more popular Xiaomi...

Solid, good-looking, and ergonomic design ; Good, steady performance ; Good battery life ; Decent camera ; Loud and fairly well-sounding speaker

Needs some setting up to get Google Play services running properly ; Camera colors can go haywire in less-than-ideal lighting ; Video recorder struggles with focus ; Local support in Western markets may be limited

So, where does the Meizu MX6 stand? Judging by its hardware, it's in the upper tier of midrangers, but it's delightfully priced around the $300 mark. So, should you buy this, instead of getting a bland and underpowered midranger from a well-known...

Meizu MX6 sports a brand new Sony camera sensor

Just what can you expect the newest model from the MX series? For starters, we can definitely look forward to additonal technological upgrades from its predecessors. Of course, one of the main attractions would be the all powerful Sony Exmore RS IMX386...
