LG U830 review

Choc full of LG goodness

Stylish design ; Very large internal memory ; Good MP3 player performance

Quirky speakerphone ; No expandable memory card support ; Not as elegant as the original Chocolate

A good multimedia all-rounder that's almost as desirable as the original Chocolate

LG U830 review

A Chocolate clamshell with a creamy HSPDA filling, the U830 promises to be both tasty fashion phone and speedy web tool

Resistance seems to be futile. Everyone who sees and touches it can't help but be seduced by the Chocolate phone. LG's sleek, smooth, dark sliderphone handset was one of the sales sensation of 2006; now it comes in clamshell flavour

LG U830 3G Phone Review

LG has spawned another member of the Chocolate family but this time the familiar-looking U830 arrives fitted with a 3.5G wireless engine.

A very stylish design plus it's HSDPA ready when 3 eventually rolls out its 3.5G network.

It is stylish but LG has disappointed by sticking with the KG810 design.

It's nothing new, but the U830 is the most stylish of the new breed of HSDPA phones

LG U830 (Chocolate)

LG has continued its 'Chocolate' range of mobile phones with the release of the HSDPA capable U830, a successor to the [[prodid:1852]]. The form factor has changed from a slider to a clamshell, and the number of touch sensitive controls has been...

HSDPA capable, sleek and stylish design, bright and clear displays, good sound quality and above average headphones, excellent hands-free speakerphone ;

No memory card slot, below average camera, poor implementation of touch sensitive media controls, poor battery life ;

Battery life is a major disappointment, rated at a paltry two hours of talk time and only 180 hours of standby time. We had to charge the U830 every single night during testing. The battery life will also diminish significantly when the MP3 player and...

LG Chocolate U830

LG takes another Chocolate out of its box of tricks, but this particular phone isn't entirely sweet.

Sleek form factor ; Good keypad ; HSDPA

Poor battery life ; Limited memory

LG rates the U830 with a standby time of up to 250 hours, but with a low actual talk time of only 110 minutes. Our testing concurs with both figures; in a low-usage environment the U830 lasted for a number of days, but as soon as we started calling,...
