LG DoublePlay review

Innovative phone with two screens falls flat in daily use

Novel split-screen ; Great bundled apps ; Good tactile keyboard ; Relatively fast ; Browser worked fast

Poor camera ; Heavy and bulky ; Split keyboard is a tad awkward ; Slips out of your hand ; Incompatible widgets

Differentiating yourself from the pack means making something spectacular…or just different. With the LG DoublePlay, a few radical hardware changes translate to an unusual, and sometimes more productive, experience.

LG DoublePlay review

It's no secret that Android's dominance of the smartphone world is due in part to the sheer number of models available running the OS. This abundance of

Second screen a handy productivity tool ; Split keyboard a pleasure to use ; Excellent viewing angles on both displays

Hefty and thick, even for a slider ; Mediocre main screen ; Lacks a front-facing camera

For heavy texters, the DoublePlay's keys and second screen are a godsend, though its weight and girth make it a less attractive option than other sliders.

LG DoublePlay (T-Mobile)

The LG DoublePlay is built around an interesting concept, but T-Mobile users can easily find a better phone with a QWERTY keyboard.

Nice, bright display. Good call quality.

Big and bulky. Awkward split keyboard design. Second display isn’t very useful.

The DoublePlay is a quad-band EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and dual-band HSPA 14.4 (1700/2100 MHz) device with 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. It also supports T-Mobile's Wi-Fi calling, which is a nice way to save money on your calling plan or compensate for a weak...

LG Doubleplay (T-Mobile) review

LG has been a messaging phone mainstay for some time, from the early days of the LG enV feature phones to more advanced handsets like the LG Genesis and the LG Enlighten . But none of them have ever looked anything quite like the LG Doubleplay. It is...

The LG Doubleplay has a vibrant and sharp display, a 1GHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, DLNA support, Wi-Fi calling, mobile hot-spot support, full Webkit browser with Adobe Flash, support for T-Mobile's 4G/HSPA+ network, a...

The LG Doubleplay's quirky dual screen and split keyboard design is a little too strange for us. It's a hefty and bulky handset, and has poor battery life.

The LG Doubleplay has excellent features for a midrange Android smartphone, but its bizarre design is not for everyone.

Review: LG DoublePlay for T-Mobile

LG's DoublePlay features two screens, a split keyboard, and the ability to multitask like almost no other smartphone. Can anything hold this Android device back?

LG DoublePlay Review by Sydney

I've heard a lot of people complain that all smartphones these days look alike. 'They're all the same', they say. 'Just a flat square panel with a touchscreen on it.'

Innovative, and surprisingly useful, secondary display will surpass your expectations; great QWERTY keyboard; Android 2.3

Chunky, heavy, and dull hardware design; small display with poor resolution; poor HD video capture quality

There are neither outstanding pros or cons to this device once you take away the dual-display. Considering the radical nature of this technology, I would expect more out of the device as a whole. Check it out. You'll like the idea, you just might not...

LG unveils dual-screen DoublePlay smartphone with Android 2.3

It was only a matter a time before smartphones finally began sporting dual screens. As if dual SIMs and dual cameras weren't enough (heck we've seen phones with dual keypads too), T-Mobile recently pulled the veil off the LG DoublePlay, a one-of-a-kind...

All the phones T Mobile has sent me to replace at 5$ per phone out of my own pocket has had the same issues. Definitley would not have purchased this phone if I knew of these issues ahead of time. Can't wait for contract to be up will be switching...

Double screens which are very convenient.

I have had this phone for about 6 months and have sent back about 9 of them all with the same issues;kicks me off the internet, get a black screen, freezes, touch screen wont work. T Mobile suggests turning it off every 2 days which does NOT help.
