E-Ten Glofiish X500 review

The Swiss Army knife of the handheld world

Excellent connectivity ; Versatile set of features

No included GPS software ; Too few actual buttons

Scores well in most areas, but doesn't quite blow us away in any of them

E-Ten Glofiish X500

The X500 is a light smartphone in an already crowded smartphone marketplace. Using a simple chassis, the screen takes up the majority of available space, with a few buttons surrounding it. Interaction is via the stylus and touch sensitive screen

Decent screen resolution, Good bundled software

Expensive with a plasticky feel

Buying a different phone and a GPS add-on could be cheaper than the X500

Eten Glofiish X500 Review

The X500 is high-tech pocket assistant with great functionality. It brings wireless network and GPS navigation in slim stylish body with average size. Its 400MHz processor beats its rivals and its 2-megapixel camera is a good performer for this class....

Slimmest PPC with both GPS (with SirfStarIII chipset) and Wi-Fi built in (up to date) ; 400MHz Samsung processor ; High contrast and brightness display ; Long battery life

Uncomfortable D-pad ; Lack of 3G high-speed data ; Weak signal reception ; Incoming and outgoing sound quality not great

REVIEW: E-TEN Glofiish X500+ Windows Mobile 6 Professional Smartphone

When E-TEN announced its Glofiish X500+ back in March , it was a kind of sensation - is it one of the few Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Editions which comes standard-sized but with a VGA (480x640 pixel) screen. Furthermore, the Glofiish X500+ is an...

Eten glofiish X500+ Review

I believe users already got used to Eten's policy of launching updated "+" models that include advanced features compared with the initial devices. glofiish X500+ is one of these cases an improved version of the last year Pocket PC device codenamed...

The main attraction of this device is by far the VGA display and nothing else. Probably the Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional could also be among the positive points of the device, but Eten has already offered the operating system free of charge for X500...

The lack of a QWERTY keyboard significantly limits the functionality of the device. In addition, the CPU is not powerful enough for the VGA display. Maybe Eten would better test its devices before launching them on the market. The Pocket PC is too slow...
