BlackBerry Bold 9780 review

The Blackberry 9780 is the first Bold handset to use Blackberry 6. The latest update to RIM's operating system is move away from the rigid and static OS of old, towards something more fluid in a market where Apple iOS and Android 2.2 are winning fans.

Excellent keyboard ; Better browser ; More customisation

Not a fantastic leap forward ; Low-res screen

With its full QWERTY keyboard and strong email support, the Bold 9780 is very much a phone for messaging - for sending texts and emails. To his end it’s still probably the best handsets on the market.

BlackBerry Bold 9780 review

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 takes RIM's flagship QWERTY device - the Bold 9700 - gives it a fresh new operating system with BlackBerry 6 and spits out a practically identical handset. It isn't a new move from BlackBerry, we've seen them release multiple...

Keyboard, email service, camera is improved, screen good despite size, battery life

Poor video offering, some of BB 6 seems better suited to touch control, app offering isn't all BB 6 compatible

If messaging is what you do, the BlackBerry Bold 9780 is a better device than the 9700 thanks to the RAM boost and general tweaking the BB 6 brings. The keyboard and email services are as excellent as ever, but some might see the Bold 9780 as less...

BlackBerry Bold 9780

Another solid messaging oriented smartphone from the masters. Is that enough in this day and age, though?

Great qwerty keyboard ; Sharp, colourful screen ; Excellent call quality and battery life ; Class leading messaging interface ; Web browser much improved

Small screen ; Feels like it needs a touchscreen ; Keyboard still favours small fingers ; App store is limited

the dock for that phone.

BlackBerry Bold 9780 review

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 looks identical to its Bold 9700 predecessor, but features more memory and the new BlackBerry 6 OS. A refreshed home screen, various software enhancements and a better web browser are improvements.

For current BlackBerry users who aren't interested in a touchscreen device, the BlackBerry Bold 9780 comes highly recommended: it possesses a great keyboard, best-in-class email capabilities and a refreshing new interface. However, it offers little...

BlackBerry Bold 9780 review

With enhanced RAM and the BlackBerry 6 OS, the BlackBerry Bold 9780 is an improvement on its predecessor, but it's certainly not going to recapture market share lost to iOS and Android handsets.

Fantastic Qwerty keyboard ; Solid build quality ; Universal search is powerful

BlackBerry 6 OS needs a touchscreen ; Feels outdated ; Video recording is poor

While there was nothing particularly wrong with the Bold 9700's design, to make its direct successor almost identical does strike us as a little lazy. The internal improvements made by RIM make the BlackBerry Bold 9780 a pretty enticing proposition,...

BlackBerry Bold 9780 Review

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 is a fairly minor update to the incredibly popular BlackBerry Bold 9700.

Using the BlackBerry Bold 9780 isn't a very different experience to using the Bold 9700, so 9700 owners should stick with their current handset and consider something new when it comes to upgrade o'clock.

BlackBerry Bold 9780

Should current Bold 9700 users upgrade to the new Bold 9780? We give our take on the new BlackBerry that will come preinstalled with OS 6.

5-megapixel camera; twice the RAM over Bold 9700

OS 6 could be refined to suit non-touchscreen operation

The Bold 9780 is without a doubt one of RIM's best BlackBerrys. The keyboard experience is unparalleled and OS 6 has addressed a number of features we've been critical about in the past. It's not perfect, though, and we suspect that RIM had to make...

Blackberry 9780

Blackberry 9780 is a continuation of a popular 9700 model. Moreover, it is one of the most successful QWERTY smartphones on the market. It was logical to take the same body, upgrade the hardware and come up with a new model. You can read the review of...

To make a long story short the main difference of OS6 from its predecessor lies in customizable desktops (you cannot change them much though), alerts line and the redesigned screen on standby. Changes are not numerous, but the user experience is...
