iPhone 8 review

Business as usual, in a slightly nicer suit

Wireless charging is useful ; Glass rear is pleasing in the hand ; Camera is great at point-and-shoot

Limited upgrade over iPhone 7 ; Bezel-heavy design looks dated ; Battery only just lasts a day

Don’t let the iPhone 8 name fool you – this is very much the iPhone 7S, an incremental upgrade on 2016’s 4.7-inch iPhone 7 with a few additions here and there, but nothing to really wow.

iPhone 8

iPhone 8 review, price, release date: Is the new iPhone 8 worth it? Is the updated camera, faster processor and True Tone display worth the £699 price?

Great camera ; Blazingly fast ; Colourful display ; Wireless charging is a nice extra

Dated design ; Battery life could be better ; That huge bezel

When Trusted Reviews reviewed the iPhone 7 last year, Evan Kypreos found the poor battery life the single biggest reason to avoid the device. He claimed it had ‘the shortest battery life he’d experienced on any mainstream phone over the past couple of...

Apple iPhone 8 review

X marks the spot for Apple's future, but the iPhone 8 is a safer – and surprisingly impressive – option

Blazingly fast ; Camera borders on excellent ; Great build that feels solid ; Speakers are surprisingly good

Pricey ; Design is effectively four years old ; Camera bump still irks ; No headphone port

You think you know what you’re getting, but the iPhone 8 offers quite a bit more. There’s no getting round its highish price and dated design though

iPhone 8 review

On Nov. 3, Apple will roll out its seductive sports car of a phone: the all-new, totally redesigned, edgy, giant-screened iPhone X .

The iPhone 8 offers wireless charging, lightning-fast performance and small but solid upgrades to its camera, screen and speakers. Its starting storage size is a roomy 64GB, double that of the iPhone 7.

This phone has the same pedestrian design, missing headphone jack and battery life as the iPhone 7 -- and no dual camera either. The iPhone 8 costs a bit more than baseline new iPhones in years past, and comes only in black, silver and a new shade of...

The sensible, speedy iPhone 8 makes a nice upgrade to the iPhone 6S and earlier siblings, but we won't know until November how it compares to the much pricier iPhone X.

Apple iPhone 8 hands on

Apple's recent launch was dominated by the iPhone X, but an iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were also on the menu. We took the smaller handset of the two for a quick spin...

iPhone 8 review: Hands on with the middle child of Apple’s new family

The 'cheap' iPhone 8 may not have mass appeal, but it offers enough to satisfy a select group of people

Despite the improvements, the iPhone 8 lacks any real punch. None of the features listed above are unique to the iPhone 8, for instance. Yes, they’re a step up from the iPhone 7 and, yes, they certainly leave older models and some rivals in the dust,...

The iPhone 8 is excellent, but not for everyone

Come for the glass back, stay for the A11 Bionic chip and wireless charging.

Excellent design and glass back ; Wireless charging, finally ; Powerful A11 Bionic CPU offers unprecedented performance ; Better Portrait photography

Smaller model still has no dual camera

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus move the needle forward in all the right ways, but the only substantive change from the iPhone 7 is wireless charging. If you own the 7, don't bother, but everyone else should seriously consider upgrading.

Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus Review

Apple's new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus offer a faster processor, improved camera and image processing, a glass back and wireless recharging but do they do...

Fast processor ; Great cameras ; Superb image processing ; Wireless charging ; Excellent operating system ; Countless apps

Design might become dated ; They're not the iPhone X

The real problem here is that both these phones have a large iPhone X-shaped shadow falling on them, promising the future as loudly as the first iPhone did ten years ago. But to be honest, that’s their worst failing. These are both excellent phones,...

Apple iPhone 8 Smartphone Review

Step by step. We already suspected that Apple would only show a slightly improved version of its smartphone this year. The eighth-generation iPhone from Cupertino gets a revised chassis and more performance, which is at least more than in the previous...

high build quality ; True-Tone display ; fast SoC ; great camera ; accurate GPS ; Bluetooth 5.0 ; high Wi-Fi performance ; many LTE bands ; water and dust protection

storage cannot be expanded ; only 12 months warranty ; no stereo jack ; only average speakers ; display resolution could be higher ; heavier than the predecessor ; very limited NFC functionality

The iPhone 8 might be the last of its kind, the last Apple smartphone with a home button and IPS display. If this is the case, the Americans at least gave us a very good final chapter. We once again miss major new features or innovations, but the...

Apple iPhone 8

The iPhone 8 anchors Apple's 2017 phone line, but it isn't where the future is.

Wireless charging. Powerful new processor.

Lacks the latest modem features and bands. Single camera is a disadvantage for AR. Not a huge upgrade over last year's model, which is still available.

The iPhone 8, at $699 and $849, suffers from one major problem: the iPhone 7 is now $549. And the 8 just isn't $150 better—yet. The major improvements here are wireless charging, which I still think is basically a curiosity, and the A11 processor. The...
