The Acer beTouch E101 is currently the cheapest Windows Phone available. Niall puts it through its paces.

Acer E101 Review

"The Acer E101 is a Windows Mobile (6.5) phone with a 3.2-inch touchscreen and built-in Facebook and YouTube apps."

Unfortunately there's no 3G (unlike the Acer E100) or Wi-Fi so you're stuck with GPRS and EDGE for connectivity so any net activity is going to be slow going and potentially expensive.

Acer beTouch E101 Review

Announced back in October last year the Acer beTouch E101 is one of those handsets which I'm not really sure where it sits compared to the competition. It's clearly a smartphone as it's running Windows Mobile 6.5 however it seems to be...

Nice Screen ; Feels good in the hand ; Plenty of applications

Lack of 3G ; Lack of WiFi ; Lack of GPS

Acer beTouch E101

The E101 might be inexpensive but a terrible screen and inefficient touch interface make it an unsatisfactory product.

Inexpensive ; Good Productivity Features ; Good Music Playback

Below Par Screen ; Inefficient Touch Interface ; Poor Camera ; No Wi-Fi or 3G Support

The Acer beTouch E101 is priced at Rs. 11,900. The price-tag looks good on a smartphone but the big downers are the limited connectivity options, below-par screen and unconvincing touch interface.
