Nvidia Shield

For many, Android TV boxes are a hard sell, as pretty much every new TV has its own suite of streaming apps pre-installed. That was why the original Nvidia Shield TV was such a welcome surprise.

The Shield TV is still the best streaming box around, but its best features haven’t arrived yet.

Nvidia Shield TV Pro review: setting the standard for media streamers

The Nvidia Shield TV Pro is a streaming and gaming powerhouse

AI video upscaling ; Built-in Chromecast ; Top-tier gaming

No Google TV (yet) ; Unchanged design ; No bundled controller

The Nvidia Shield TV Pro is going to become an invaluable part of your home setup, whether you use it to access your favourite streaming apps or to run the best games at the best quality from the cloud. It's powerful, it's intuitive, and it's very...

Nvidia Shield TV 2017 review: the best 4K media and gaming streamer you can get

It's already totally over-specced for most users' requirements, and it'll soon stir Google Assistant into the pot as well

Good apps for Netflix and Amazon ; Smooth local 4K streaming ; Technically incredible cloud game streaming

Cloud gaming platform bereft of top titles ; Over-specced for most users' needs ; Quality doesn't come cheap

Nvidia Shield Android TV review

Two parts gaming machine, one part set-top box

Powerful components ; Sleek design ; Great game selection

More expensive than competitors ; Android TV prioritizes Google Play

The Nvidia Shield is an awesome gaming system, but a mediocre set-top box. It's able to deliver stunning 4K content to your living room TV without breaking a sweat, but is ultimately limited by Android TV's lack of native apps and penchant for paid...

Nvidia Shield Android TV review: 4K and gaming meet in powerhouse box

There has been a lot of talk of late about Amazon adopting 4K video streaming for its new Fire TV box, something Apple hasn't adopted in Apple TV. But Nvidia can sit pointing and laughing in a corner as its Shield Android TV is the most capable...

4K video at 60fps via HDMI 2.0, BBC iPlayer on an Android TV box, the best cloud gaming platform around, Tegra X1 processor ensures unparalleled performance, Google Cast abilities, voice commands and search, Game Controller included

No remote control in the box, Android TV is still lacking in app support for many big name services, gamer-friendly looks are an acquired taste

Number of Android TV-supported apps aside, the Nvidia Shield Android TV is the best media streamer out there bar none. There are devices that profess to offer more content and channels, such as those by Roku, but when it comes down to it there are only...

Nvidia Shield TV review

Is this the ultimate media and gaming streamer?

Minimalist design ; Powerful specs ; Impressive AI upscaling ; Numerous gaming options

Still expensive compared to other streamers ; No 4K BBC iPlayer support ; No HDMI cable included

More than a mere streaming device, the Shield TV will easily handle your premium video needs, with clever gaming smarts to boot

Nvidia Shield TV review (2017): Still the best Android TV box you can buy

With 4K HDR support and plenty of content, Nvidia's Android-powered Shield TV box more than dwarfs its predecessor

Content-rich ; Revamped controller ; Slimmer, lighter chassis

Only 16GB of onboard storage

For gamers on a budget, though, it’s perfect: an Android-powered games console that holds its own against pricier counterparts with a lengthy list of games at your fingertips. That, along with a decent selection of 4K and HDR-enabled streaming content,...

Nvidia Shield TV (2017) review

A must-have streamer for PC gamers with an HDR TV. Everyone else, though? It's complicated...

4K and HDR streaming apps aplenty ; Loads of ways to get your game on ; Google Assistant coming soon

Costly if you’re just after a media streamer ; No significant hardware update over the two year-old original ; Plasticky triggers on the controller

Still the most powerful media streamer out there, only now in a smaller package. The gaming features are still great, and home automation could make all the difference when it turns up later in the year

Nvidia Shield TV Review (2017 model): This updated version of the original Shield TV is one of the best home entertainment systems you can buy right now.

Versatile streamer ; Unbeatable gaming features ; Improved controllers ; Google Assistant

You'll have to wait for the Spot
