Apple TV+

As time has gone on, Apple TV Plus has grown into a video streaming service with high quality content at an affordable price

Best AV quality of streaming services ; Focus on original content ; Good interface ; Wide availability ; Affordable

Library smaller than others ; Lacks big hits ; Lacks the international catalogue of other streamers

At launch Apple TV+ wasn’t the most compelling option, but now its narrative is stronger thanks to an excellent AV performance and strong bank of original content. While its library is diverse, it still isn’t as big as others and it lacks the big...

Apple TV 2nd Gen (2010)

Has Apple entered a market sector in which its principles fundamentally undermine its chances of success?

and that's it.

Apple TV+ review

Apple enters the streaming game but avoids taking on the giants

Reasonably priced ; Superb streaming quality ; Decent content

Not enough content

Apple TV+’s content is entertaining enough and brilliantly produced but, currently, there’s nowhere near enough of it

Apple TV (2012) review

The new Apple TV has a new interface and glorious 1080p content

Sparkling 1080p video quality ; Smooth streaming playback ; Great simple interface

No free content ; No Lovefilm ; Laborious keyboard set-up

Apple TV 2nd Generation review

The new-look AppleTV replaces the original 2007 model. It's smaller than its predecessor, measuring a mere 3.9ins wide and deep, and just 0.9in high. The reduction in size – and price cut from £200 to £100 – was made possible by removing the hard disk....

A breeze to set up and use and features an attractive graphical interface

Limited content available via iTunes in the UK; rentals are comparatively expensive

Apple TV 2 (2010)

For many, including Apple, Apple TV is seen as a hobby. But has the latest version, launched in October 2010, changed all that? We've been playing with the new Apple TV to find out. So should you get one? It's clear, seeing the differences between the...

Rent iTunes movies from your TV, streaming content from your computer to your TV, small, HDMI, optical connection

No browser, no NAS support, no music rental, not 1080p

So should you get one? It's clear, seeing the differences between the UK and the US offerings, that the UK gets a bum deal. You don't get the 99 cent TV shows, nor do you get Netflix support, in our mind two killer features of the new box. That said,...

Apple TV (2nd Generation) review

The latest version of the Apple TV is smaller and sleeker than its predecessor, with a radically redesigned interface. It's also remarkably cheap, at just under £100 from most retailers. Although we weren't expecting loads of features at this price, we...

Apple TV has a lovely interface and will suit those who use iTunes for everything, but its low resolution and poor format support count against it.

Apple TV 2010 review

Apple TV has been reinvented: now it's tiny-small and provides a simplified interface between iTunes and your TV. But does it do enough?

Fine within the Apple eco-system and a great price, but we’d like it even more with iPlayer and 1080i/p support

Apple TV 2.2 review

The Apple TV 2.2 focuses almost entirely on playback and purchase of movies and music. See also: Apple TV review, January 2009.

The one down side is the price. The US had a big price drop last year, but the Apple TV in the UK is still an expensive beast. If it was half the price, we'd consider it.
