Samsung Series 7 Chronos 700Z review

We can safely say that in 2011, PC manufacturers have stepped up to the mark when it comes to design. Although Apple has had a fairly long headstart, we've seen more head-turning design in the Windows market thanalmost any other time, and not just at...

Samsung Series 7 Chronos review

The Samsung Series 7 'Chronos' is quite the killer portable powerhouse we were expecting but it is a great multi-media buy

Multi-media performance ; Portability and battery life ; Future-proofed

Lacks va-va-voom ; Some usability issues ; Touchpad

The Series 7 Chronos isn’t as desirable as competitors such as the Dell XPS 15z, and we were hoping for some of the sexy style of the Series 9. However, if you need a portable entertainment machine that can run anything you throw at it, the Chronos is...

Samsung Series 7 Chronos review

An exciting name for a laptop, but can it compete with the new ultrabook herd?

Excellent erformance ; Comfortable backlit keyboard ; Shar, glare-free dislay ; Solid lid ; Long-lasting battery

Wrist-slicing almrest ; Annoying touchad ; Somehow underwhelming

If you need a portable machine to entertain you on the move, which won't be out of date any time soon, the Samsung Series 7 Chronos is well worth considering. Just don't expect great beauty.

Samsung 700Z5A

Samsung wowed us with its ultra-thin, surprisingly powerful Series 9 laptop earlier this year, but the £1,000-plus price tag lifted it beyond the grasp of most common folk.

Excellent performance ; Comfortable backlit keyboard ; Sharp, glare-free display ; Solid lid ; Long-lasting battery

Wrist-slicing palmrest ; Annoying touchpad ; Somehow underwhelming

If you need a portable machine to entertain you on the move, which won't be out of date any time soon, the Samsung Series 7 Chronos is well worth considering. Just don't expect great beauty.

Samsung Series 7 Chronos

A fast and good-looking laptop, but with some flaws

Looks stylish; good battery life; excellent screen; powerful

but expensive; plastic finish on inside

A good looking laptop with a good screen, but it's a little overpriced so think carefully about what you want before buying

Samsung Series 7 Chronos review

The Samsung Series 7 Chronos is a long-lasting 15in laptop with more than a few nods to the Apple MacBook Pro range.

With the Series 7 Chronos, Samsung has turned its talents to making a commoditised version of the Apple MacBook Pro. It has much of the same technology inside, and borrows heavily in certain design cues, but using cheaper materials to allow a lower...

Samsung Series 7 Chronos Review

The screen could be better, but good looks and raw horsepower are enough to ensure the Samsung Series 7 Chronos triumphs

The Samsung Series 7 Chronos – or NP700Z5A, to give it its full name – is ridiculously thin for a 15in laptop. It looks so good you won’t immediately notice the wrist rest and base are plastic. That's

Samsung Series 7 Chronos review

Given the recent furore over Samsung's tablets apparently aping Apple's, it's hardly a surprise that the company's new Series 7 Chronos laptop looks so similar to a Apple MacBook Pro 15in. Its slim metallic chassis is certainly reminiscent of Apple's...

The design might not be particularly original, but the Chronos Series 7 has fantastic performance for an incredible price

Samsung Series 7 Chronos 700Z5A

Lighter than the 15in MacBook Pro yet packing better specs for nearly half the price, the metal-clad 700Z5A is an all-round champion.

Matt, high-rez screen ; Solid brushed metal chassis ; Powerful and fairly quiet ; ExpressCache SSD ; Cheaper than rivals

No Blu-ray option ; No eSATA

Samsung’s sleek, metal-clad 15.6in Chronos laptop is the most impressive MacBook Pro rival we’ve yet seen, offering a lighter machine with better specs for nearly half the price - even if it’s not quite as attractive or well-built. A quad-core Core i7...
