Microsoft Surface Pro 2017 review: still the best Windows laptop/tablet hybrid, but who is it for?

Surface Pro 5 is the best laptop replacement tablet a creative could wish for, but most users would be better off with a Surface Laptop

Superb screen ; Good battery life ; Undeniably versatile

Expensive at higher specs ; Keyboard costs extra and is poor ; Stylus costs extra again, although it is, admittedly, excellent

Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) review: Every bit the pro, but battery life is still a blow

The new Surface Pro shows how far Microsoft has come with the series. It's a really well made and great performing Windows device. Even in the Core i7

Refined design is its best yet ; New keyboard (sold separately) makes for best typing experience yet ; Great screen resolution and brightness ; Plenty of power available - but fanless Core i5 is probably your best bet

Battery life still isn’t great (not in the Core i7 model anyway - fanless Core i5 ought to be better in this regard) ; Keyboard not included ; Can get mighty expensive - to the point a laptop might make more sense

The new Surface Pro shows how far Microsoft has come with the series. It's a really well made and great performing Windows device. Even in the Core i7 form of this review model it's approaching silent in operation, thanks to seventh-generation Intel...

Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) review

Meet the new Surface Pro, same as the old Surface Pro. But a little bit better

Masses of power ; A joy to type on ; Wonderful screen ; Great battery life

Too pricey for the top-spec models ; Lack of ports may frustrate some

The refreshed Surface is an evolution rather than an entirely new lifeform, but it remains the class leader

Microsoft Surface Pro review

The most massively improved Surface yet

Hugely improved battery life ; Much better Surface Pen ; Comfier, punchier Type Cover

Surface Pen pulled from package ; Only Core i7 can challenge A10X

We’re surprised Microsoft has refrained from calling this the Surface Pro 5, as it’s the biggest improvement on a Surface we’ve ever seen. Despite losing the included Surface Pen, the Surface Pro’s huge improvements help it retain our Recommended award.

Microsoft Surface Pro 2017 review

A review of the 2017 Surface Pro: a Windows tablet that's billed as a laptop (but doesn't come with a keyboard).

Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) Review: In Depth

Microsoft Surface Pro 2017 review: After nearly 2 years Microsoft is returning to the form factor that defined the Surface line with the 2017 Surface Pro.

Excellent software compatibility ; Powerful hardware ; Stunning screen ; Versatile design

Type Cover/Surface Pen cost extra ; Heavy for handheld use ; Lacking in ports

The iterative nature of the 2017 Surface Pro doesn't detract from the fact that this is an excellent 2-in-1 and a worthy update on 2015's Surface Pro 4. The machine itself certainly feels like five-star material, with some of the most refined design...

Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) review

It's like trying to pick a suspect out of a police lineup of identical twins. Take 2015's Surface Pro 4 and the long-awaited new version just called Surface Pro, and stick them side by side on a table. Now, go and grab the new one. Like me, you might...

The Surface Pro gets better performance and battery life from its CPU update, and most models are now fanless. The excellent kickstand is even more flexible.

Minimal redesign leaves out USB-C and Thunderbolt options. The Surface Pen stylus is no longer included by default, and new keyboard covers are more expensive than ever. Still not great for lap use.

Microsoft's flagship Surface Pro gets an extremely conservative update, but better battery life keeps it the gold standard of Windows hybrid PCs -- for now.

Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) review: Great machine, but less relevant than ever

The latest iteration of the Surface Pro performs as it should, but is lacking that killer feature

Microsoft Surface Pro i5 (2017) review

  (Rating Hidden)

The mid-range Microsoft Surface Pro packs in plenty of tech, with an Intel i5 processor and 8GB of Ram, which should make it a fast tablet, capable of competing with many laptops. Is Microsoft's device the definitive way to experience Windows 10 on a...
