MateBook X Pro

A great-looking Ultrabook – but not quite perfect. MateBook X Pro.

The MateBook X Pro is an excellent Ultrabook and a clear step forward for Huawei, but it isn’t quite perfect. Hopefully we’ll get UK pricing soon, so we can give a final verdict.

Huawei MateBook X Pro review

A slimline beauty that's ready to crash Apple's party

Ultra-skinny screen bezels ; Powerful CPU/GPU combo for an ultraportable ; Loads of storage and respectable battery life

Touchpad can be finickity ; Webcam angle isn’t very flattering ; Looks a little too familiar

A seriously stylish and powerful Windows laptop with some clever ideas to get the maximum display for your dollar

Huawei MateBook X Pro review: Pro by name, pro by nature

With a stunning trim-bezel screen, heaps of power on tap, ample ports (including full-size USB), and a great-looking finish throughout, it MateBook X

Tiny screen bezel is the smallest in the business ; Bright and resolution touchscreen looks superb ; Heaps of power on tap ; Full size USB plus two USB-C for the future ; Discrete graphics (and off-board compatibility too)

Battery life won't hit double figures ; Camera placement isn't right ; Auto-brightness is overzealous ; Screen too glossy and therefore reflects ; No SD card slot

With a stunning trim-bezel screen, heaps of power on tap, ample ports (including full-size USB), and a great-looking finish throughout, it really is Pro by name and pro by nature.

Huawei MateBook X Pro initial review: A true MacBook Pro killer?

Fewer manufacturers are making laptops these days. Well, genuinely great ones anyway. Which is why it was something of a surprise to see Huawei produce

With a stunning trim-bezel screen, heaps of power on tap, ample numbers of ports, and a well-considered finish throughout, there's a lot to like about Huawei's top-spec laptop. The only standout downside, from what we suspect, is that battery life will...

Huawei MateBook X Pro review

Meet 2018's first new ‘best laptop' contender

Incredibly slick, sensible design ; Gorgeous, bright display ; Strong all-around performance ; Terrific battery life

No SD card slot ; Clever webcam is still flawed ; Mystic Silver is Core i7 only

Huawei may have created the sleeper hit best laptop of 2018 with its MateBook X Pro, a surprisingly sublime marriage of function and form with few, if any, flaws to speak of for all audiences both professional and prosumer.

Huawei's Matebook X Pro ultraportable laptop is here, and it's an impressive rival to the Apple MacBook

Stunning bezel-less design ; Excellent performance ; Ultra-thin and lightweight

Expensive

Whether it will be able to take the Apple MacBook’s crown in this fiercely competitive category remains to be seen. But one thing’s for certain: if any device is going to do it, there’s no more deserving contender than the Matebook X Pro.

Huawei Matebook X Pro review: Perfecting the ultraportable

The Huawei Matebook X Pro is slim, light and well-designed: an impressive second outing for Huawei's flagship laptop

If the first Matebook X was a triumph of design and a big surprise given Huawei’s inexperience in the laptop field, the Matebook X Pro is a firm consolidation of its position as a serious contender in the industry.
