HP Pavilion dv9700 review

An exceptional multimedia entertainment laptop, the dv9700 is one of the most inexpensive ways to hop onto the mobile Blu-ray bandwagon.

Attractive design; bright, crisp display; Blu-ray drive; thorough set of audio visual controls, ports, and connections; long battery life; touchpad power button; fingerprint reader

Mediocre gaming performance; HDMI port takes the place of one USB port; decent, but not great, speakers

The HP Pavilion dv9700 doesn't have enough graphics power to satisfy hardcore gaming enthusiasts, but it is a great choice for home users who don't want to spend a fortune on a Blu-ray-equipped entertainment notebook.

HP Pavilion dv9700t User Review

HP offers an array of customizable options when you order a laptop from their website. I started with the base dv9700t model, which cost a shade less than $1,000, and customized my way up to just over $1,400. There was a special coupon (which might...

Great keyboard ; Good performance with T8100 processor ; Excellent screen with dual backlights

Minor feedback on the headphone jacks ; Not the best touchpad and buttons

The battery that comes stock is an 8-cell, but I upgraded to the high-capacity 8-cell, which is the only other option. With the brightness turned up all the way, the battery lasted just about three hours before kicking off. Owners can reasonably expect...

"Great until GPU burns out."

HP and nVidia need to cowboy up and get this ...

Good screen real estate, decent performance, great connectivity

GPU is FLAWED! It works well until the GPU gets too hot, typically just out of warranty. Then, you're stuck with a busted graphics card that will NOT run 3D apps, the reason I chose the video card in the first place. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM

"Good performance; I play World of Warcraft on it"

Great laptop. I bought this in June 2008. I...

Very good performance. I got the 2nd highest screen available and the 2nd highest video card available, plus fairly large upgrade in the disk size

The graphics card can get hot on my left leg sometimes, but most of the time it's not a problem

HP 9700t desktop replacement computer.

This was purchased to replace my aging desktop computer and I wanted the option to take it on the road as well. Built in WIFI is strong and easy to use. The screen clarity is amazing and the computer looks 'cool' with the case design. Now the...

This computer is one great performer. It has great speed, sufficient RAM to run many applications in parallel. The screen size & resolution is just great. Added a TV tuner & get HD quality playback. Stunning ia all I can say. Webcam is decent. On the...

I have had this computer for about a week now and so far I love it. I ordered directly from HP and was able to customize it with higher ram and screen resolution. I also got the TV Tuner Card. Performance has been great so far and I've been able to ...
