Dell XPS 15 review

Jack of all trades, master of some

Gorgeous 4K display ; Blazing fast CPU ; Much improved battery ; Legacy ports still at play

Middling graphics ; Poor webcam placement ; Bloatware

While no laptop can be proficient in every area, the Dell XPS 15 makes a valiant effort to accomplish just that. With the exception of playing games, Dell has proven once again that it can build a laptop that appeals to (almost) everyone.

Dell XPS 15 9560 review

It isn't the world's thinnest, lightest or most powerful. But Dell's latest update to the XPS 15 is a marvellous all-rounder. Here's our Dell XPS 15 9560 review.

The Dell XPS 15 is an amazingly flexible laptop, despite looking like an ordinary high-end one on the surface. It’s very powerful but has unusually good battery life for its class. It has a 15in screen but is smaller than almost all other 15in laptops...

Dell XPS 15 9560 review

The Dell XPS 15 seamlessly blends power, performance, and excellent industrial design.

Superb display ; Excellent everyday performance ; Admirable gaming chops ; High-quality industrial design

Low-quality speakers

The XPS 15 is a phenomenal laptop. It does have a few flaws, as the speakers aren’t great, and the battery life could be better, but overall the XPS 15 stands head-and-shoulders above the competition in nearly every way. It’s easily one of the best...

Dell XPS 15 (2017) review: Kaby Lake and a 4K display make a difference

Dell's XPS 15 remains one of the best 15.6-inch laptops you can buy.

Top-notch CPU performance from quad-core Kaby Lake chip ; GeForce GTX 1050 offers decent bump in performance over GTX 960M

Just about average battery life despite huge battery. ; A little heavy considering its power envelope.

The PC industry often gets flak for keeping people on the “technology treadmill” and “updating for updates' sake." But unless you’re the kind of person who wants to buy a brand-new laptop in 2017 packed full of hardware from 2015, we think the updates...

Dell's XPS 15 is a top choice for work and play

This laptop is jack-of-all-trades and master-of-some machine for people who like to game where they work.

The Dell XPS 15 has a beautiful, high-resolution and accurate broad-gamut display, and it incorporates the Nvidia GTX 1050 gaming GPU, which raises playtime performance in general-purpose laptops.

The webcam is in a terrible location at the bottom of the display and the fan can get loud.

Powerful with a great screen, the Dell XPS 15 delivers solid gaming and affordable mobile workstation-class performance in a relatively compact package.

Dell XPS 15 Touch (2017)

With its brilliant 4K screen and updated components, Dell's latest XPS 15 Touch (9560) is a powerful laptop for visual artists, graphics designers, and video enthusiasts.

Excellent performance, thanks to its Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card. Carbon fiber and aluminum construction. Edge-to-edge 4K Ultra High-Definition (UHD) screen. USB-C port with Thunderbolt 3. Large-capacity...

4K screen is a drain on battery life. Awkward webcam angle.

The Dell XPS 15 Touch should be at the top of your list if you're setting up a graphics or video editing studio, or are a well-funded art student. It has the power to complete multimedia projects quickly and features a brilliant screen that shows many...

The Dell XPS 15 9560 Review: Infinity Edge Part Two

Near the end of 2015, Dell rolled out their new XPS styling cues, that were so successful on the XPS 13, to its larger sibling, the XPS 15. Thanks to the Infinity Edge display, Dell's new XPS 15 packed a full 15.6-inch display into a notebook closer to...

Still, that one issue isn’t enough of a reason to not recommend the XPS 15. It continues to be one of the best 15.6-inch laptops on the market today. Dell has kept the performance intact as they shrunk the chassis, unlike many of the other 15.6-inch...

Dell XPS 15 9560 (i7-7700HQ, UHD) Laptop Review

Massive GPU gains. Moving from the i7-6700HQ to the i7-7700HQ is the tiniest of steps forward. Moving from the GTX 960M to the GTX 1050, however, is a significant graphical leap for the XPS 15 series.

accessible internals; 2x SODIMM, up to 2x storage bays ; very wide color gamut; near 100 percent AdobeRGB ; Thunderbolt 3 (albeit only 2x PCIe lanes) ; 56 Wh and 97 Wh battery configurations ; fast GPU considering the notebook class ; no major CPU or...

backlight uniformity could be better; slightly dimmer than the FHD SKU ; must sacrifice secondary SATA III bay for higher battery capacity ; fan noise during low to medium loads; loud fans when gaming ; palm rests and keyboard are a fingerprint magnet...

In our review of the Kaby Lake XPS 9360, we mentioned that the performance and battery life advantages over the Skylake XPS 9350 are so minuscule that users may want to consider saving a few hundred Dollars by purchasing the older model instead. The...

Dell XPS 15 2017 9560 (7300HQ, Full-HD) Notebook Review

Everything will be good?! Dell refreshes its XPS 15 with the latest Kaby Lake processors and a GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card, so the performance takes a big leap forwards. How does this affect the emissions and the battery runtime? Did Dell finally...

The performance of our Dell XPS 9560 in the mainstream configuration with the Intel i5-7300HQ and hybrid storage solution is very similar to the previous XPS 15 9550 in the areas of case, input devices, and connectivity. We still like the chassis with...
