MacBook Pro (15-inch, mid-2018) review

Same body, big leap in power

Fantastic design ; True Tone works well when you want it ; Touch Bar is improving ; Very good performance

Expensive ; Lack of ports ; Keyboard still feels a little flat

The MacBook Pro 2018 15-inch is a powerful pro notebook with a fantastic design. However, in its bid to appeal to the mass market, it might turn off some professionals.

2018 MacBook Pro packs Core i9 power into its 15-inch frame

This high-end 15-inch laptop includes an Intel Core i9 CPU and other upgrades that finally live up to its "Pro" moniker.

The latest 15-inch MacBook Pro offers major internal upgrades to the CPU, RAM, storage and display. The Core i9 version delivers a worthwhile speed boost on processor-intensive tasks.

The basic design hasn't been updated, keeping the same advantages and flaws. Adding the new high-end options drives the cost way up.

The 2018 MacBook Pro 15-inch laptop delivers the serious computing muscle that power users and creative pros crave -- but everyone else should wait for the rest of the line to be updated.

Apple MacBook Pro 15in (2018) review: Power never looked so good

Apple takes its rivals to school with a truly outstanding laptop

Gorgeous looks; Superb performance; Excellent display quality

Touch Bar and Siri are still a little pointless

Apple’s latest 15in MacBook Pro is one of the best laptops we’ve ever tested, and our favourite to boot. Combining raw power with stylish portability, it’s everything you could ever want in a 15in notebook.

Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch (2018) Review: More Power for Pros

Some pros have questioned the last few years of MacBook Pro. Why didn't support 32GB of RAM? Where are all of the ports we need? In this year's refresh of the 15-inch MacBook Pro ($2,399 to start, $3,199 as tested), Apple answered the first question,...

The 15-inch MacBook Pro delivers strong performance, fast storage and long battery life. But it's as expensive as ever, particularly if you want a roomy SSD. And we'd like more ports.

MacBook Pro 15in (2018) review: An absolute beast (with a price to match)

The MacBook Pro has been upgraded for 2018 with new hardware. So much so that you could spend over £6,000 on one. But should you?

What do you want us to say? Yes, it's an amazing laptop, and yes, you could buy a car for less money. The design is thoroughly lovely, even though it's the same design we first saw in 2016, and really not all that different from the one we got in 2012....

Apple MacBook Pro 15-Inch (2018)

With the addition of an Intel Core i9 processor, the sleek 15-inch MacBook Pro is now one of the most powerful desktop-replacement laptops you can buy, making it an excellent choice for well-heeled, on-the-go creative pros.

Excellent battery life. Core i9 processing muscle. Sleek, thin all-metal design. Beautiful display with automatic color-temperature adjustment. Roomy SSD.

High starting price, and painfully expensive as configured. Limited I/O options.

Bottom Line: With the addition of an Intel Core i9 processor, the sleek 15-inch MacBook Pro is now one of the most powerful desktop-replacement laptops you can buy, making it an excellent choice for well-heeled, on-the-go creative pros.

New MacBook Pro review: the heat is on

New processors, new keyboard, and True Tone displays

Powerful processors ; Thin and light design ; True Tone display

Polarizing keyboard design ; No SD card slot ; Difficult repairability

So you have to separate what you wish Apple would do from what it has done. And after the software update, what Apple has done is deliver a very good laptop, one I think you can trust. But increasingly, it’s getting harder to love.

Apple 15-inch MacBook Pro (2018) Review

Apple's new 15-inch MacBook Pro (tested at $4,699; starting at $2,399) has already seen dual controversies, but it's come out all-the-more-impressive for Apple. Not only have class-action lawsuits ( 1 , 2 ) arisen about Apple's butterfly keyboard...

Review: The 2018 i7 15-inch MacBook Pro is much more than a spec bump

Looking at the outside of the computer, it is very easy to think that the new 15-inch MacBook Pro with Core i7 processor is unchanged from last year's model. However, there are a surprising amount of improvements beyond just a new and powerful...

Sure, we didn't see a redesign of the exterior, but that shouldn't undercut the laundry list of other improvements we saw this year on the 2018 15-inch MacBook Pro. This is the largest amount of improvement we've seen when it comes to an off-year...
