Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition VN7-791G

The Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition VN7-791G is, according to Acer's own blurb, the apex of the Aspire V Nitro line. What that means in reality is it's a premium, large but slim, 17in laptop that can serve both as a modest gaming machine and a...

Smart design suits home and office ; Packed with features including Intel RealSense ; Excellent quality screen and good sound quality ; Powerful machine also suitable for gaming

RealSense not that useful yet ; Battery life struggles to reach four hours ; Screen resolution only 1080p ; Can get slightly better gaming performance for the money

Acer Aspire V17 Nitro

Along with support for eye-tracking technology, the 17-inch Acer Aspire V17 Nitro gaming laptop is a good value for the components you get.

Built-in eye tracking. Sturdy keyboard.

Flimsy, small touchpad. Matte screen dulls colors and blurs some windows.

Bottom Line: Along with support for eye-tracking technology, the 17-inch Acer Aspire V17 Nitro gaming laptop is a good value for the components you get.

Acer Aspire V Nitro 7-791G-7984

It's available in various configurations in the US , UK and Australia in 15.6- and 17.3-inch versions starting around $1,000 in the US, AU$2,000 in Australia and £777 in the UK. The exact 15.6-inch configuration reviewed here is currently only...

The Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition packs quality components including a high-end quad-core processor, discrete graphics and dual storage drives into an understated body. It has a great 4K-resolution display and sweet-sounding speakers.

The mid-range graphics processor will keep you from playing many games at full 4K resolution. Lack of a touchscreen might disappoint some. Though somewhat expected, battery life is short.

A thinner, lighter gaming laptop, the Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition satisfies with an excellent screen and performance and understated good looks.

Acer Aspire V Nitro review:

The Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition is basically a desktop replacement squeezed into the body of a stylish thin-and-light notebook. And a fairly powerful one at that.

Acer Aspire V Nitro 7-791G Notebook Review

Not much more powerful. On paper, the powerful hardware upgrade of Acer's Nitro series seems appealing. Although, the performance has not improved in the synthetic benchmarks, gamers might appreciate more fps and a higher display contrast.

Low waste heat, Still very good input devices, Matte IPS panel, Better contrast than its predecessor, Good gaming performance

Fan gets loud early, Stability of the big case, Partly difficult to maintain

As in our previous test, Acer's Aspire V 17 Nitro is impressive, and proved to be a solid notebook in all aspects for 1370 Euros (~$1540). Compared with the predecessor, the important changes are the CPU with higher clock, and the new NVIDIA GeForce...

Acer Aspire V17 Nitro VN7-791G Notebook Review

Nitro light. The Aspire would like to replace the desktop PC at home when it is ready for retirement. An Acer laptop with a decent configuration costs about 700 Euros (~$741). However, the computer has a high energy demand.

Stylish, slim casing, Bright, high-contrast screen with matte surface, Plenty of computing power, Gaming capable, Decent input devices, Keyboard backlight

No maintenance cover, High power consumption

Acer's Aspire VN7-791G-50MV provides its owner with plenty of computing power, and can even run computer games. The laptop usually runs quietly and heats up moderately at most. Furthermore, it has decent input devices, and the screen is compelling....

Acer Aspire V17 Nitro (VN7-791G-759Q) Notebook Review

Controlled explosion. With convincing components and slim cases, the notebooks from Acer's new Aspire V Nitro-series are real all-rounders for discerning customers. Our Black Edition with the GeForce GTX 860M is targeted at gamers. Our review shows...

Big model variety, Comparatively light and thin, Nice design with interesting surfaces, Clean build quality, Dual-band WLAN, Ergonomic and nicely illuminated keyboard..., ...that can unfortunately be pushed in, Excellent touchpad, Overall convenient...

Case stability not perfect, Bad maintainability, Battery very hard to access, Memory slots deep inside the case, Confusing statements about the manufacturers' warranty, Contrast could be higher, Tricky to use the equalizer, Mediocre battery runtimes

What a shame, we would have liked to see a very good rating for the Acer Aspire V 17 Nitro Black Edition (VN7-791G-759Q), but it just misses it (amongst others) because of the very complicated accessibility of the battery and the other components that...

The Hitman of gaming laptops is here and it shoots big

Price ; Brilliant 4K display ; Superb Dolby sound ; Slick and subtle design ; Comparatively light-weight

Keyboard and trackpad could be better ; Battery life ; One-sided ports

A no-nonsense, affordable gaming laptop that does just one thing right. Gaming.

Acer Aspire V17 Nitro review-in-brief: powerful but uninspiring

The Acer Aspire V17 Nitro is not the best gaming laptop on the planet, but it does bring some class to an often brash segment.

: It’s large, it’s heavy and it hums through battery. The keyboard is average for gaming and the touchpad is terrible for all purposes, but the beauty of this machine lies in the inside. The i7/860M combo is ideal for gaming above 30 fps, but that...
