Onkyo HT-S780

With games consoles, DVD players and AV receivers all vying for a place under the TV, it can be a hassle setting up a home theatre system. Knowing whi...

Separate AV receiver and DVD player, powerful performance

Not very attractive, bulky, audio lacks subtlety, no on-screen menu

The HT-S780 is all about big: big sound, big size and big features

Onkyo HT-S780

The plus-size Onkyo HT-S780 HTIB delivers sonic power and glory that are simply unavailable in more fashionable systems.

Component-grade 7.1-channel receiver ; Component-video switching ; A/B speaker switching ; Three full-size bookshelf speakers plus four smaller satellite speakers ; 230-watt, 10-inch powered subwoofer

Onkyo HT-S780

Onkyo HT-S780 is very heavy duty system. This home theater brings great quality of sound but it is very costly. The best feature which i like in this theater is its 7.1-channel receiver.

Heavy duty system ; Great quality of sound ; 7.1-channel receiver

Expensive ; High frequency bias

SUMMARY: Onkyo good (but not pretty), other brands less good (but pretty). I'd say "think Gina Davis vs. Paris Hilton" but you probably have an unfairly low opinion of Gina Davis, which is UNWISE AND PROBABLY RATHER MISINFORMED of you, rube ;...

The looks ; not so much ugly as "unpretentiously workmanlike ; Pitch accuracy from the sub ; it isn't phenomenal, merely quite good verging on significantly better than average ; The cabling's a bit on the thin side ; I prefer thicker cabling, but I...
