Plantronics BackBeat Sense review

BackBeat, the word is on the street that Sense headphones are worth a shout

Light and extremely comfortable ; Great design with minimal fuss ; Easy to use ; Decent battery

Sound isn't all-encompassing ; Lack of pure noise cancelling ; Definite headphone 'noise' when walking

The Plantronics BackBeat Sense is a great-looking, lightweight over-ear offering that boasts brilliant Bluetooth connectivity - we just wish the sound was a touch more impressive.

The BackBeat Sense are a pair of wireless on-ear headphones from Bluetooth audio specialist Plantronics. Like so many audio manufacturers in recent years, Plantronics clearly wants a piece of the lucrative headphone market and has already proved with...

Light, comfortable design ; Strong battery life ; Bright, detailed sound quality

Proximity sensor can activate when around neck ; Some optimising issues when listening from PC/Mac

The Plantronics BackBeat Sense are feature-packed Bluetooth headphones that deliver superb sound at a competitive price.

Plantronics BackBeat Sense review

Plantronics have a decades long history in headsets for comms, and the company is now branching out into consumer and leisure listening with its new Bluetooth headset, the Plantronics BackBeat Sense. Is it any good? We put one through its paces to find...

First off, the Plantronics BackBeat Sense is a very fancy dan looking headset with striking circular cups. It looks great, it's light and it's comfortable - in short it's a headset you can wear for hours without any discomfort

It's sadly not all good news though, and the fact these headphones don't feature closed cups means your fellow travellers are every bit as likely to hear your music as you are if you listen to EDM a little too loudly on the train. Still, the leakage...

The Plantronics BackBeat Sense headphones may lack the brand cachet of Beats, but we know which we'd rather be wearing (it's definitely these!) - they're absolutely great value for money.

Plantronics BackBeat Sense Bluetooth headphones

They aren't called Sense for nothing, you know

Comfortable ; Good sound ; Steady Bluetooth performance

Sensors sometimes unreliable

For $249, you'd expect them to sound good, though, and the good part is that they also offer enough comfort so that they can be enjoyed for long periods of time. Bluetooth and corded operation add versatility (furthermore, they support Class 1...

Plantronics BackBeat SENSE review

The BackBeat Sense are among the best wireless on-ear headphones you can find at any price point.

Plantronics didn’t really take a risky approach with the BackBeat Sense, leaning toward neutral with both the design and audio performance. We can’t say these are ideal for any particular genre of music because they aim to treat them all the same. Bass...

Plantronics BackBeat Sense Black

For starters, it's lightweight (140 grams or 4.9 ounces) and very comfortable for an on-ear headphone, with a "self-adjusting" headband (the frame is metal) and memory-foam-equipped earpads that are clearly labeled "L" and "R." I found it to be as...

The Plantronics BackBeat Sense is a lightweight, comfortable on-ear wireless headphone that delivers very good sound for Bluetooth and has a strong feature set, with dual microphones and a sensor that knows when you have the headphones on or off....

Low-end may not be strong enough for those looking for fatter bass.

At less than $200 USD, the well-designed Plantronics BackBeat Sense is one of the best on-ear wireless Bluetooth headphones currently available.

Plantronics BackBeat Sense

The Plantronics BackBeat Sense Bluetooth headphones pack very good performance and battery life in a remarkably light and comfortable on-ear package.

Incredibly light, comfortable design. Good selection of accessories. Very good sound quality with powerful lows

Balance emphasizes lows and highs at slight expense to high-mids. Canvas carrying pouch is a little awkward to use

Plantronics is better known for its Bluetooth headsets than for its headphones, but the company has made some strides in the field of gear intended primarily for listening to music and not talking to people. The BackBeat Pro over-ear wireless...
