Bose FreeStyle review

The Freestyle earbuds are an eye-catching set with great audio quality and an attractive price point

Secure, fitness-friendly fit ; Durable, moisture-resistant design ; Integrated mic and playback controls for iOS

No sound isolation ; Bright color options may not appeal to everyone ; Not Android compatible

The Bose Freestyle earbuds are a great everyday pick for on-the-go listeners who care about sound quality.

Bose Freestyle (review): An excellent in-ear headphone for people who don't like in-ear headphones

The Freestyle headphones are Bose's latest in-ear models. How do they compare to their predecessors?

The Bose Freestyle headphones are secure and comfortable as well as sweat-resistant, and their "open" design is appealing. They also offer pleasantly full bass and include an integrated remote and microphone and a nice carrying case.

They let sound in, so they're not good for noisier environments; not all the remote's features will work with Android and Windows phones.

While it may not be the best-sounding headphone for the money, the Bose Freestyle's superior design and comfort level make it a go-to choice for anyone seeking a sporty and stylish in-ear model.

Bose FreeStyle earbuds review

  (Rating Hidden)

The Bose FreeStyle earbuds are part of this premium brand's 2014 range and are designed to be seen as well as heard. But is it all about looks, or do they sound any good? We put them to the test.

Bose Freestyle in-ear headphones

The sound quality from these earbuds is exceptional, but the colour scheme is a little odd

Unbiased sound ; Excellent clarity and detailed reproduction

Expensive ; No passive noise cancellation

If you can get around the cringeworthy colour schemes, the Bose Freestyle in-ear headphones will prove a valuable long-term investment. We emphasise ‘long-term’ because they aren’t cheap for a set of earbuds which can very easily be damaged. Bose does...

Bose FreeStyle

The splashy design of the Bose FreeStyle earphones is paired with a crisp, sculpted response that delivers rich lows.

Powerful audio performance with plenty of bass response and crisp high-mids. Interesting design with a useful, stylish look.

Eye-catching design will be a pro for some, a deal breaker for others. Sound signature not for purists seeking flat response.

The FreeStyle feels like a fashion accessory first and an earphone pair second. As an accessory, it's your call whether you like the look. From an audio standpoint, the earphones are best suited to pop music, rock, and hip-hop, but not if you're...

The sound quality from these earbuds is exceptional, but the colour scheme is a little odd

Unbiased sound ; Excellent clarity and detailed reproduction

The Bose Freestyle in-ear headphones cost $179 in Australia, and $219 in New Zealand. Note that Bose will only be selling these headphones until May 2015.

Take away the limited Bose branding, and the Freestyle in-ear headphones look like the sort you'd pick up in the discount basket on the way to the checkout of your local electronics shop. But beyond the cartoonish colouring is memorable, balanced sou...

Bose FreeStyle Earphones: Australian Review

Bose has never been an especially fashionable brand for headphones. They're usually serious, finished in blacks and bright silver. The new FreeStyle, though, is a more modern, more stylish take on some high quality earphones from one of the world's...

The Bose FreeStyle is the company’s most fashionable pair of headphones by a significant margin, even moreso than the equally new SoundTrue. That’s the chief selling point of these headphones, though — their $179.95 price puts them somewhat out of the...
