TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition 2 Sat-Nav

By James Morris (trustedreviews.com)

The second incarnation of TomTom's widescreen XL offers a simpler interface.

Simple interface ; Good value ; Full-screen graphics

No carry pouch included ; Difficult to access USB socket ; Slow map updates

Despite the Start2 reducing the cost of TomTom sat-navs that little bit further, the company still hasn't quite cracked the most value-oriented section of the market. The XL2 is only slightly more expensive, and the extra screen space makes it more...

At under £140 for the UK and Ireland version and under £160 for European maps, the XL2 is comparably better value, if you want a bigger screen without paying out for a premium personal navigation device.

TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition Europe 42 review

By (expertreviews.co.uk)

Award: Best Buy!

TomTom's original XL was great for anyone wanting a large-screen satnav at a reasonable price. As the name suggests, the IQ Routes edition has the more advanced route planning system, which has been a boon in TomTom's pricier models for a while now.

TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition review

By Marie Brewis (pcadvisor.co.uk)

The TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition is a clever and good looking satnav device.

The TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition is a great buy for the frequent traveller who needs to get where they're going without having to worry about having chosen the wrong route or the wrong lane. Note that as per usual TomTom practice, no mains charger is...

TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition Europe 42

By James Morris (trustedreviews.com)

Award: Recommended!

Tom Tom brings its IQ Routes system to one of its more affordable units, the Tom Tom One XL.

Although the One and XL are still TomTom's budget models, the new IQ Routes Editions slot in above the original versions - the latter remain available as the Classic versions, but only with one region, not full European maps. As such, you will pay...

TomTom XL IQ Routes edition Europe

By Brett James (cnet.co.uk)

The XL IQ Routes edition Europe sat-nav offers clear voice directions, an extremely responsive touchscreen, and IQ Routes software that takes into account the time and date when planning a route. It all adds up to a solid and useful driving aid,...

Good design and display ; clear voice directions ; convenient EasyPort mount ; customisable points of interest ; useful IQ Routes software

IQ Routes not always accurate ; no Traffic Message Channel receiver as standard ; reliant on TomTom Home PC-based software for updates ; no Bluetooth ; no text-to-speech support ; slow route recalculations

If you can accept the lack of Bluetooth, Traffic Message Channel receiver and text-to-speech support, the TomTom XL IQ Routes edition Europe is a solid sat-nav. Beware though -- the price quickly adds up if you start buying extras

TomTom XL review

By Rosemary Hattersley (pcadvisor.co.uk)

The TomTom XL satellite navigation device may have an oversized 4.3in touchscreen, but the overall design is anything but extra large.

The TomTom XL is an excellent satnav unit that fixes easily and securely to a windscreen and folds away into itself so it can be stashed in a glove compartment or in a handbag. The mapping is as accurate as any satnav unit we've tried and the...

TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition review

By Macworld Staff (macworld.co.uk)

Boasting IQ Routes - allowing you to measure the fastest route based on the time of day - the TomTom XL sounds impressive.

Combining navigational skills with road statistics, TomTom’s latest sat navs come with IQ Routes, a useful feature that was previously available only on the company's high-end Go models. By measuring your fastest route based on actual road speeds at a...

TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition Europe

By Vincent Lheur (digitalversus.com)

Easy to use ; IQ Routes will be very useful for city dwellers ; Small practical suction mount ; Compact

The GPS sensor however is sometimes slow to start up

This is a must-have sat-nav for the regular driver. In addition, its IQ Routes feature is the ideal companion if you live in a city. Those of you who live in your cars will probably want to go for a model with traffic tracking.

TomTom XXL IQ Routes Europe Edition

By Fabien Pionneau (digitalversus.com)

Easy to use ; IQ Routes very useful for city driving ; Small, practical suction mount ; Very big, easy-to-read screen

The GPS sensor can sometimes be slow to start up

This is a must-have sat nav for the regular driver. Plus, its IQ Routes feature is the ideal companion for city driving. However, those of you who live in your cars will probably want to go for a model with 'Live' services for real-time traffic tracking.
