Nintendo Wii review

For sheer playability, there's no console better than the Wii. Its former codename, Revolution, describes it superbly. The motion sensitive controllers are just that, and with the addition of extra controllers such as the Wii Fit Balance board,...

Great layability ; included Wii Sorts is comelling ; Unique controllers ; Easy-to-use menu system and media functions

Grahics can't comete with the Xbox 360 and PS3 ; Games still exensive ; Oera browser not included as standard ; Needs Flash ugrade ; Media functions could be better ; Poor battery life for controllers

Nintendo Wii

If you're lucky enough to get a Wii for Christmas, you're in for a real treat.

Farcical they may be, but new console launches are a staple of the industry and Wii represents something truly 'new' in an industry often criticised – not always fairly – for being unoriginal. It's exquisitely designed, superb value at £179 and,...

Nintendo Wii review

Nintendo's next-generation console is finally here, bringing significant advances to the gaming world.

Those looking for HD graphics and Blu-ray capabilities should wait for the PS3. But we think the Nintendo Wii, a fun console with a refreshingly different controller, will have a wide appeal – especially among casual gamers.

Nintendo's little white box is determined to inject fun back into gaming ' but can it overcome the might of the PS3 and Xbox 360's next-gen power?

The most fun gaming experience ever. Motion-sensitivity better than PS3's tilt joypad. Great price. Sega classics available to download online.

Basic, standard-def graphics. No multiplayer online gaming. Not all games suit the format. No DVD playback.

It lacks the graphical prowess and rich media features of the Xbox 360 and the PS3, but the Nintendo Wii's combination of motion-sensitive controllers and emphasis on gameplay make the ultra-affordable console compelling

Revolutionary controller design offers motion-sensitive gameplay options ; Built-in Wi-Fi delivers free online services and (eventually) gameplay ; Virtual Console has major nostalgia appeal ; Compatible with all GameCube games and controllers ;...

Controller eats batteries and takes some time to get used to ; Lacks the advanced hi-def graphics and surround sound found on the Xbox 360 and the PS3 ; Requires a wired receiver unit placed near the TV to interface with wireless controllers ; Can't...

The Wiimote and its motion-sensing, pseudo-virtual-reality controls are the biggest draws of the console, and its online capabilities, Wii Channels, Virtual Console and GameCube backwards-compatibility are just a thick, sweet layer of icing on an...

Pure fun in a box. Get some friends round and swing your Wiimote until the early hours

Nintendo Wii Preview

If you read my report from E3 you'll know that I'm pretty excited about the Nintendo Wii, and that excitement hasn't lessened over the months since the LA based gaming show. I had another chance to get my hands on the Wii hardware back in July, which...
