Nintendo DS Browser review

Nintendo hits the web on DS with a little help from Opera – but it's a bit of a bumpy landing

This is a pretty decent browser if you stick to simple pages, but anything flash or complex equals death

Nintendo DS review

Despite some excellent games and dual screen, the DS fails to step out of the increasingly mighty shadow of the PSP

Up against it when compared to the PSP and not the worthy substitute it should have been. Once more people crack the dual screen, though, it might be worth a second look

Two Nintendo DS Games

First Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games (yes I know they are over but I can only review items when received), this sent by Woolthworth.co.uk and second 7 Wonders II another of the puzzle series from GSP.

To me this game is fun, has good graphics and dare I saw it educational, what used to be called edutainment a few years ago

The Legendary Starfy (DS) review

IMPORT REVIEW

The Legendary Starfy is as loveable and entertaining as they come, but it is also far too easy.

The Legendary Starfy

This endearing DS platformer is sickeningly cute but a little too light on challenge and complexity.

Nintendo DSi

The Nintendo DSi is the third generation of Nintendo's handheld gaming console. Now sporting a bigger 3.25-inch dual touchscreen, it has a bag of new tricks, including two cameras, each capable of snapping 0.3-megapixel images, Wi-Fi web browsing and...

If you don't already own a Nintendo DS or DS Lite, buying a Nintendo DSi will guarantee you more hours of wasteful bliss than a lorry made of maltesers. But some shonky cameras and a few millimetres shaved off aren't reason enough for an upgrade. The...

Hands-on: Tornado Nintendo DS

This is Tornado for the Nintendo DS and at first look it seems like a fun and simple videogame for the portable games system, but after a closer inspection we find that it's a little more complicated. The DS game is published by Ignition Entertainment...

Nintendo DS Lite (DS) review

Nintendo are hardware whores. Let's face it, the GBA has seen so many renditions, we've lost count, (well, maybe not). The Original Game Boy hardware wasn't without its makeovers either. But then, who cares? If you can make money out of a product, it...

Product Specifications

With impressive 3D rendered graphics, Nintendo DS delivers portable games for fans of any genre. Plus, you can play all your favorite Game Boy Advance games in a single-player mode. With Nintendo DS, dual screens and touch-screen technology allow you to interact with games like never before. Wireless communication allows you to experience real-time multiplayer game play, while built-in PictoChat software gives you the power to draw, write and send messages wirelessly. Nintendo DS revolutionizes the way games are played. Two LCD screens offer one of the most groundbreaking game play advances ever developed. Imagine the possibilities. In a racing game, you might see your own vehicle's perspective on one screen and an overall track view on the other. Soon, games could be created allowing you to play games on one screen while sending text messages on the other. The lower screen offers something never before provided by any dedicated game device: touch-screen capabilities. You no longer have to rely on just buttons to move your character or shift perspectives. Navigate menus or access inventory items simply by touching the screen with a stylus or fingertip. The possibilities are limited only by developers' imaginations. The touch screen features a tougher film cover for durability, and the included stylus is stored in the back of the unit. A built-in microphone port means that with Nintendo DS, you only need to tell your games what to do. Developers could create games, which identify everything from voice commands to hand clapping. Imagine moving your characters simply by telling them which way to go! Communication-based games could use the microphone and you can chat with others over a local network, or even the Internet in the future. The Nintendo DS microphone gives you even more ways to interact with your favorite games. Nintendo DS sound capabilities allow for greatly expanded use of voices and music, and a richer, more immersive game experience. Stereo speakers allow for virtual surround sound and a plug for headphones transmits stereo sound. Hear something in your left headphone? Audio clues can give you advance warning that an enemy is approaching or that a hidden secret is nearby. Sound can be one of the most immersive components of any video game, and Nintendo DS delivers big sound in a small package.
