Sharp TU-R160H Freeview Personal Video Recorder

This is Sharp's first stab at the PVR market to accompany a range of high performance LCD TVs. Following up on the recent success of rivals such as the Humax PVR9200T it offers similar features in the 160GB hard drive and built-in Freeview tuner, but...

160GB hard drive for up to around 90 hours of TV, attractive front panel design, effective remote and panel controls

You can’t record or time-shift two channels at once, below average picture quality, frustrating time-shifting functionality, no common interface for PayTV

At around £230 you’re paying about the standard price for a 160GB Freeview PVR with these sorts of specifications.

Easy to use with many features and we have a very good picture quality. After getting through 2 bush pvrs in quick succession I realised pvrs were on the delicate side and so took the precaution of taking out an extended guarantee on the sharp...

As others have pointed out it does sometimes freeze and we get the odd blip but that's fairly easily remedied by unplugging and plugging back in again with library remaing intact, we also can't rewind tv by half an hour and record the channel we're...

It is so easy to use just press the red button for instant record, or use the programme guide to set what you want taping, you can tape your programmes for that day and up to 8 days in advance it's very clever. I am so pleased with it i have had it now...

The only down side is that you can tape two at the same time but you have to watch one

Sharp TU-R160HA

I have now tried several PVR's, and this one is easy to use, with good quality tuners, is good looking with a decent display. The Programme Guide is good with a moving 'timeline'. It has a good range of inputs and outputs.

In spite of advertised features, because it has no time loop facility on either tuner, it is NOT capable of rewinding live TV, nor can it record a watched programme back from the beginning. It also cannot as advertised record two programmes whilst...

Sharp TU-R160HA

When working properly even I can use it

the whole unit freezes and we have to switch off at the mains for it to work again. Sometimes we can't record whilst watching the same programe Sometimes it says that we can't record because of a systems error when none of us can see any reason for it
