By Lori Grunin (cnet.co.uk)Read the full review

Interchangeable lenses ; fast performance ; excellent photo quality ; flip-and-twist LCD

Accident-prone jog dial ; some restrictive feature implementations ; no movie capture

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 is a camera that people will either love for its speed, photo quality, and interchangeable-lens flexibility or hate for its large-ish size, electronic viewfinder and occasionally frustrating design

Does the first Micro Four Thirds camera impress?

Compact body, ease of control, great performance, articulating screen

New camera system means less accessories, those with big hands might find it too small

We love the compact body and the level of control that you get. We also love the full articulation of the screen: it's a real bonus and helps make the G1 a really fun camera to use

By Sharon, Essex (reevoo.com)Read the full review

Switches on very fast so unlikely to miss a shot. Battery lasts about 5 days if you took about 300 pics per day using the eyepiece. Actually has a battery guage so you know how long it will last. Dials seem to be in the right place for controlling the cam...

Easy to move the single to timed shot dial instead of the on/off switch as very close together. Not all the scene type settings allow you to use the 4x digital zoom. This particular model has no video function. As it's a micro four thirds lens system ther...

Manufacturer's Description

The Lumix G1 is as easy to use as a compact digital camera, with the stunning photo quality of a digital SLR camera. It's a new-generation digital interchangeable lens camera that does away with the mirror box and complies with the Micro Four Thirds System standard. In short, the G1 writes an entirely new chapter in the evolution of the digital interchangeable lens camera.
