Nikon D700 review

By Lori Grunin (cnet.co.uk)

As long as you don't need seriously high-resolution photos, video capture, or machine-gun-fast sports shooting, the Nikon D700 has everything you need in a pro full-frame camera for a reasonable price

Excellent photo quality as high as ISO 6,400 ; Fast focus and shooting, even in low light ; First-rate build quality and control layout

Relatively heavy ; Low resolution for its class ; Viewfinder only provides 95 per cent coverage and lacks interchangeable focusing screens ; Occasional issues with automatic white balance under artificial light

Unsurprisingly, the D700 delivers great photo quality. With a reallygood lens the photos are very sharp, and the camera renders excellentexposures and a broad dynamic range. Both visually and by the numbersit exhibits first-rate colour accuracy, though...

It hasa robust noise profile as well -- photos show no degradation untilabout ISO 6,400, and are still quite usable up to ISO 12,800, dependingupon subject matter. As for ISO 25,600, they're not as bad as the CanonEOS 50D's at that level, but it's very...

Nikon is looking to continue its fine DSLR form with this full-frame stunner But how does measure up next to the D3?

Jostling for its position between those two imaging goliaths is the D700, featuring the smaller body size of the D300 but the larger, full-frame sensor of the D3.

Nikon D700 review

By Gavin Stoker (pcadvisor.co.uk)

Sitting between the enthusiast pleasing Nikon D300 and pro-level Nikon D3 models, the newer 12.1Mp Nikon D700 suggests a 'best of both worlds' semi-pro option.

The Nikon D700 is blisteringly fast and capture incredible results in near darkness. You get a choice of uncompressed TIFF as well as JPEG or Raw files, making the Nikon D700 a solid 'best of both worlds' compromise between D300 and D3 models. But...

Nikon D700

By Jamie Harrison (trustedreviews.com)

Award: Recommended!

The full frame Nikon D700 covers a lot of bases and for the most part does it very well.

I'm sure there are some D3 and D300 owners who are cursing Nikon right now for bringing out a camera that combines the best of those two cameras for a relatively reasonable price. The three cameras should pretty much cover most people's needs, though...

However, for the most part, the Nikon D700 is a joy to use and is capable of incredible results, so I'm sure it will make some lucky people very happy indeed.

Review: Nikon D700

By Lori Grunin (asia.cnet.com)

This dSLR has a good feature set which can satisfy most photographers and comes with a reasonable price tag, too.

Excellent photo quality as high as ISO 6,400; fast focus and shooting even in low light; first-rate build quality and control layout

Relatively heavy; low resolution for its class; viewfinder provides only 95 percent coverage and lacks interchangeable focusing screens; occasional issues with automatic white balance under artificial light
